Crestview is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 6,471 at the 2010 census. Crestview is part of the Tampa–St Petersburg–Clearwater metropolitan area. It is located on Clearwater Beach on Gulf Boulevard and Third Street. Crestview was founded in 1892 by J.A. Brownell and Wm. Hite as a small farming community on Clearwater Beach adjacent to present-day Sanford, Florida. In 1905, it became a town when it annexed the neighboring communities of Harbor Island and Deer Key. In 1928, the town acquired additional land from Lakeland and Manatee Springs and formed what is now known as the City of Crestview annexation district which included parts of south Tampa Bay as well as most of east Pasco County including St Petersburg and Titusville

Crestview is a town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,594 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville–St Petersburg–Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in Crestview were Native American slaves who worked on plantations near present-day Fort Myers. After the Civil War, white settlers began moving into Crestview from all over Florida and the Southeast United States. By 1875, there were about 50 houses in town and only one school. In 1902, Crestview was reincorporated as a village under the name of "Crestview". The first post office opened in that year and continued until 1903. In 1916, Crestview became a full town when it ratified an act of Congress setting up municipal government for towns with a population over 5,000. During World War II many residents left for military service; by 1945 there were only 8 residents living in Crestview proper and 4 working at local businesses. However, most of the development took place outside of town; much of what is now downtown Crestwood was built during this time including the original home of Gulfport's first hospital (now known as Northeast Community Hospital). "When war came to our shores", wrote one resident after hostilities ended "we had no choice but to leave everything we knew back home behind." This migration was not unique to CrestVIEW however – throughout much of South America fighting ensued shortly before or after independence from Spanish Colonialism so many people wound up fleeing their homes especially if they could find land where they could operate their own farmsteads without interference from their conquerors
Crestview was founded in 1892 by John Fenton and his wife, Lillie. The first settlers were farmers who landed on the shore of Lake Okeechobee in what is now Crestview. By 1912 the town had a population of 350 people and was named for the high ridge that separates it from Boynton Beach. The town grew rapidly after World War I because of its location on the shipping route between Miami and Tampa. In 1925, Crestview became a city with a population of 10,000 people. During World War II, Crestview served as one of two ports on Florida's Atlantic coast from which munitions were unloaded to support the war effort. After the war, military base activity declined and by 1970 CrestVIEW had shrunk to 5,000 residents. However, growth resumed in the late 1990s when several new businesses opened up in town and today CrestVIEW has a population of over 15,000 residents.
