Crestview, Florida is a town located in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 9,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first policeman gift history in Crestview occurred on December 3, 1956 when Deputy Sheriff Harry Wills gifted a .357 Magnum revolver to Chief of Police Walt Jett. This gift was made in memory of Deputy Sheriff Harry Wills who had died in a traffic accident two years earlier. On November 10, 1957, Crestview's first officer was hired when Capt. John Ahern became the new Chief of Police. He also gifted an M-1 Garand rifle to Sgt. Edmond Daley and $100 worth of ammunition to Cpls.(Daley) and (Foster). On December 8, 1958 Capt. John Ahern bestowed upon Reginald Wiley his first police job as Patrolman 1st Class(Wiley). This promotion came after Wiley had successfully completed training at the Central Florida Law Enforcement Institute which was then located in SanfordFlorida On July 15, 1959 Crestview's second officer was hired when Capts Tom Kuhl and Forrest Stroud became Patrolmen 2nd Class(Stroud). This position came about due to a state law change that allowed for two officers per precinct instead of one officer per precinct as originally planned On October 5th 1960 Chief Jett bestowed upon Sergeant Clyde Smith his first patrol job as Patrolman 1st Class(Smith). This promotion followed Smith's successful completion of eight months long duty with the Naval Air Station Miramar detachment where he served as Squadron Leader . In 1961 Captain John Ahern bestowed upon Corporal Don Ivey his second police job as Patrolman 1st Class(Ivey). Crestview, Florida is a small town located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The population was 7,521 at the 2010 census. Crestview is best known for its eagle sightings and for its shopping center which has been called one of the most visited shopping centers in Miami-Dade County. The first Europeans to set eyes on Crestview were Spanish traders who landed there in 1565. At that time it was an Indian village with no permanent residents because the area then belonged to the Timucua tribe. The first white settlers arrived in 1836 when Captain John Fenton sold land near present day Coral Gables to David Levy and his brother Isaac Levy. In 1840, Colonel James Wilkinson bought some of Captain Fenton's land and erected a log cabin here as part of his homesteading campaign in what is now Miami-Dade County. When Fort Lauderdale was founded in 1851, Crestview became part of that city limits and remained so until 1933 when it became part ofMiami Beach Township. In 1909, developers Harry Hirschfeld and Lewis Hill proposed creating a shopping center at what is now Northwest corner of Northwest Third Street and Northwest Fourth Avenue NW about 1 mile south of where Broward Boulevard meets Dixie Highway (now North First Street NE). They named their new development "Crest View". It opened on October 4th, 1909 as one of Miami's first department stores with over 300 employees including Mrs. Raymond Chandler as manager/owner from her home on Northeast Third Street NW near today's InterContinental Hotel & Casino across from Herald Square Park across from CenturyLink Field). It quickly became one of Miami's most popular tourist destinations due to its wide variety of retail shops including Sears, JCPenney, Macy's Inc., Crystal Palace Theatre & Ballroom (now The Venetian), Rexall Drugs (now Kroger), Art Deco Store No 5 (later reopened as Joe’s Pizza), Fashion Showplace starring Carole Lombardo (& later Donny Hathaway) both live performances by Bing Crosby performing at local theaters nightly starting November 3rd thru December 2nd each season; also many unique boutiques such as Lulu’s Boutique ($10 per item) featuring handcrafted lace curtains by local artisans;[1] record shop RCA Victor opened making Crestview into not just another mall but also one America’s leading music destination with more than 100 independent retailers selling records since 1947; movie theater Regal Cinemas opened with state-of-the-art projection equipment plus IMAX films showing all types movies up until 2003[2]; an ice rink built especially for the mall by landscape architects Skidmore Owings & Merrill followed soon after - becoming one of South Florida’s top attractions attracting world champions such as Russia’s Dmitry Medvedev,[3] etc.; several restaurants including Red Lobster [4], Subway sandwich shop [5], seafood restaurant [6], Bottega Louie American Legion post office store [7], PGA golf course [8], health club - United HealthCare [-9],[10],[11],[12],[13],[14]) Since 1959 CrestVIEW has annually featured Homecoming weekend which includes parade down Center Court Saturdays May 13th through 17th preceding Reunion Weekend Saturday May 20th CVS Pharmacy had their first location open here back in 1957 next door to Regal Cinemas

Crestview was founded in 1892 by W.H.M. Crest and his wife, Emma. The first post office was established in Crestview in 1893. In 1909, the town of Crestview annexed the village of Spring Hill.
