The Cutler Bay National Guard Association was established on December 9, 1944 by the United States Congress as a result of the Gold Rush in Nevada. The unit was initially organized as Company H, 8th Infantry Regiment. On November 20, 1945, the company became Company L, 10th Infantry Regiment and finally Company K on October 1, 1947. On July 12, 1955 the regiment was redesignated as the Cutler Bay National Guardsmen and changed its name to The Cutler Bay Army National Guard. The unit was mobilized for service in Vietnam on August 15-16, 1966. It served until September 5 when it returned home. On November 3-4 2007 members of The Cutler Bay Army National Guard participated in a course offered by Florida Atlantic University entitled “National Defense Strategies for 21st Century America” in Boca Raton Beach FL from 9am to 4pm. This course focused on military strategy for homeland security and defense against Terrorism
