The Coast Guard has been in operation in the Miami-Dania Beach area since 1915. The first coast guard station was built on Dania Beach Boulevard, which is now called Miracle Mile Drive. At that time, it was only a small outpost with a few personnel. In 1917, the first organized search and rescue service was established in Miami-Dania Beach. This service helped to save many lives during times of storm surge and weather emergencies. In 1978, the Coast Guard opened its second coast guard station on Lincoln Road in Pompano Beach. This location served as an emergency command center for law enforcement operations in the area. Today, the Coast Guard operates two stations located within Dania Beach proper: one on Miracle Mile Drive and another at 333 N State Road 774. These locations offer 24/7 protection to residents and businesses near the shoreline. Additionally, the Coast Guard also provides maritime patrols off of both coasts of Florida while providing response to disasters such as hurricanes and earthquakes.

Dania Beach is a town located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The population was 9,027 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area. Dania Beach is bordered by Biscayne Bay to the north and east, Key Largo to the south, and Miami Beach to the west. The name "Dania" comes from Juan Ponce de León's discovery of this beach on October 6, 1513 while exploring Florida for Spain. From then until 1892 it was known as "Punta Margarita". The first post office opened in 1903 and lasted until 1905. In 1912 Dania became an incorporated city with a population of 30 people. On July 1, 1925 Dania Beach accepted annexation from Biscayne Bay which had 594 residents at that time During World War II Dania played host to more than 2 million military personnel who used its beaches for training purposes and rest areas for aircraft carriers off shore during Operation Neptune's Spear (1943). Most notably were Naval Air Station Miramar (NAS Miramar) – now Southport Marina – which housed two US Navy carrier groups making emergency landings on coral reefs within range of Japanese airfields; NAS Key West also hosted a squadron of British Spitfires bombing Japanese installations near Sumatra Island while NAS Jacksonville handled operations against German submarines offshore in Company H section 141st Bombardment Wing RAF In 1951 John F Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas Texas and his Vice President Richard M Nixon traveled to Palm Beach Gardens where he spoke before a large crowd assembled at Hollywood Bowl about JFK's legacy after flying back into Washington DC one evening he travelled down Interstate 95 south past Fort Lauderdale Airport through Daytona Beach heading out onto I-95N near Jupiter Inlet before turning inland towards Ft Myers eventually crossing into Mexico on Highway 99 just past Brownsville
