They started growing coffee trees near downtown on what is now Government Street. Over time, this location came to be known as "the heart of Davie." The local citizens were so impressed with how well these new Methodists were doing that they decided to start buying beans from them directly…and then some! From there, things REALLY started ramping up for Davie when the industry went global during World War II. Not only did we see production increase all over America due to wartime demand (including huge increases at our nearby military bases), but also many jobs were created thanks to Export-Import Corporation contracts that granted us access to high-quality coffees from all over the world…. including Europe! Today, you can still find some great old-school cafes throughout town that still roast their own beans (or buy them from neighboring towns). But don't forget about our newest addition: Our roasting shop – which has everything you could possibly hope for when it comes to freshly roasted coffee! We offer both single origin and modular blends (meaning you can customize your cup exactly how you like it!), and we're always open dawn until dusk for your morning caffeine fix! Davie, Florida is a city located in Escambia County, Florida, United States. The population was 21,784 at the 2010 census. Davie is the most populous city in Escambia County and one of its five municipalities. It is part of the Pensacola–Escambia metropolitan area. Davie was founded on December 15th, 1894 by J.M. Davison as a small town named after his father Daniel Davison and it became a city on October 3rd, 1903. The original population was only 100 people and it took until 1916 for the population to reach 1,500 people when it annexed neighboring towns of La Grange and Stonington which had also been founded by J.M."J."M DAVISONS sons James M"J."B DAVISON (1872-1948) & John W DAVISON (1875-1951). The first mayor of Davie was A.C.(Albert E) Caldwell from 1913-1920 who later served as Mayor from 1923-1929 then 1932-1935 under Governor William McKeithen before beingelected City Councilman in 1936 from Ward 2 with 36% of the vote beating incumbent Rufus Hatton by more than 20%. In 1940 he ran for U.S Congress but lost to Jack Kemp In 1944 he ran for State Senate unseating incumbent Ted Kennedy but lost 44%-40%. In 1948 he won an upset election against long time incumbent Wiley McGill with only 41% of the vote while running as an independentthemed campaign slogan "One man's county - One person's state". He would hold this position until 1960 when he resigned to run for Mayor again defeating incumbent Harry Craind with 54% of the vote . He would hold office until his death in 1988 .
