That year saw another major development when Ponce de Leon Boulevard was constructed between Eighth Street and Ninth Street as part of Mayor Wiley Ellis' plans for revitalizing downtown Davie. The wide boulevard made it easier for shoppers to reach all of downtown while also creating new business opportunities within walking distance of many stores and restaurants. The first buildings were constructed at Second and Main Streets, and the town slowly grew throughout the next few years until it reached its current size in 1892 when First National Bank moved into its present building on Third Street.
