The town began as a small farmers' market village near what is now Miami International Airport on Dixie Highway. In 1984, the first phase of the Davie Town Center was built with an original shopping mall and eight restaurants including Red Lobster and KFC. In 2002, Phase II of the Davie Town Center was built which included two new schools; Davie Middle School and Davie High School. Phase III of the Town Center opened in 2006 with another two schools - Northshore Junior High School and Southshore Senior High School - as well as several businesses including Subway, Dunkin' Donuts, Johnny Rockets, JCPenney and Sears Roebuck & Co., Incorporated.
