In 1951, entrepreneur Ozzie Mae Morse founded American Coffee Works near downtown Daytona Beach. American Coffee Works was one of the earliest successful cafes in America and is considered one of the city's most enduring landmarks. American Coffee Works served roast-your-own coffee until its closure in 1980. The first espresso machine was invented by Italian immigrant Angelo Pesce and his son Augusto at American Coffee Works on Broad Street in Daytona Beach in 1912. Angelo Pesce is also considered responsible for introducing espresso into North America - he brought espresso machines over from Italy during World War I to help troops drink hot drinks on battlefields throughout Europe. 2 years later, another Italian immigrant named Giovanni De Stefano created CafeteriaAmericana on University Avenue near NASDAQ headquarters - this cafe became famous for its cappuccinos and lattes made with AeroPress machines (the precursor to drip machines). CafeteriaAmericana remained open until it closed its doors in 1984 after serving over 1 million cups of coffee each month!

In 1795, Gottlieb Leiblich started making espresso machines in his kitchen in Milan, Italy. With this machine, he created what is now known as Italian espresso – a smooth blend of water and ground beans that produces a full-bodied cup of java with a strong bitter taste. By 1857, every town in Italy had its own café where citizens could enjoyeducated French roast Turkish coffee with cream and sugar on an afternoon break from work or during Carnival time (a time when most Italians dress in colourful costumes). It wasn’t until after World War II that espresso became commonly available all over the world through the introduction of drive-through windows and cafes that served hot drinks 24/7. Today we enjoy many different types of artisanal coffees from around the world – some which have been roasted fresh on site within minutes!

In the early 1800s, Daytona Beach was a small town on the shore of Daytona Bay. The town had a few businesses and a few homes. In 1853, the first post office in Daytona Beach opened. A year later, the first school was built. The town grew slowly until it became an important ocean port in the late 1800s. In 1907, Daytona Beach became part of Florida and at that time it had no city or county government. The only source of government was by ordinance from private citizens who formed "towns" to govern themselves with limited power. The first mayor of Daytona Beach was Jules Haines who served from 1907-1911. After Haines' term ended, Augustus Cushing took office as mayor for one year before resigning due to health problems. In 1912, Jack Dempsey made his professional debut in a fight at the Volusia County Fairgrounds where he lost to Tom Laughlin by decision scorecards (50-45, 50-44). This event is considered to be Speedway Hall Of Fame inductee Joe Louis's unofficial debut which helped make Daytona Beach an important transportation hub on Florida's Atlantic coast during this period
