The first coffee shop in Daytona Beach, Florida was opened in 1955 by Mrs. Alice White and her husband, Phil. At that time, the town was just emerging from years of prohibition, and there were only a few grocery stores and restaurants. Mrs. White decided to start her own coffee shop in order to provide customers with quality coffee at an affordable price. The first cup of Joe was brewed at the White's Coffee Shop on Main Street. Over the years, Daytona Beach has seen many different businesses open up their doors selling coffee - including Starbucks®, Dunkin' Donuts®, Peet's Coffee®, Caribou Coffee®, Dutch Bros.$ & More*, as well as several local roasters such as Blue Bottle Coffee® and Four Barrel Coffee® (now known as Ritual). In 1875, Sanford Biddle purchased 1/2 acre (0.18 km2) lot on which he built what would become known as Biddle House Museum Site today's Museum District including parts of Seminole Heights and Indian Head Streets east of First Street SE., where he lived until his death in 1907 with his wife Fannie Biddle Healy (1857-1920). Today that part also included much later development by Drury Homes Incorporated into which many local businesses merged in 1990 during a time period when property values were booming due to tourism brought about by then newly founded Daytona Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau

Daytona Beach, Florida is a city in Duval County, Florida, United States. The population was 133,717 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area and the larger Orlando–Kissimmee–Hollywood Combined Statistical Area. Daytona Beach is one of four cities that make up the Palm Beach County metropolitan area located in Central Florida. In 1894, President Grover Cleveland visited Daytona Beach as part of his campaign for re-election. He and his wife stayed at the Naval Air Station ( NAS Key West) before returning to New York City on their yacht, Lady Cleveland. The first structures built in what would become Daytona Beach were a wharf and store building on Bay Street near present-day US 1A and US 1B Streets in 1886 by J. Prentice Marshall and Wm Hockaday. Plans to develop this land were shelved due to financial difficulties but they would be revived later when entrepreneur James Cranch bought land from Marshall for $10 per acre (0.50 km²). One reason why development did not take off was because there wasn't yet an airport where people could fly commercially or bring passengers for pleasure purposes—the first airport opened in Miami in 1927
The Daytona Beach community began as a small farming village on the site of present-day Daytona Beach. The first permanent white settlers arrived in 1836, and by 1840, they had erected a cabin on the beach. In 1847, Capt. John Fenton organized a company of volunteers to build an artificial harbor on the shore of Lake Monroe for shipping refugees from Cuba. A year later, Fenton donated land to help create what is now Daytona Beach Boulevard. The town was incorporated in 1880 and quickly grew into one of Florida's most vibrant communities. By 1920, it had over 10,000 citizens and was home to two banks, five stores and six churches. In 1929, Hurricane Mack caused extensive damage to the town center and some sections of its infrastructure; however, Dayton Beach rallied behind its local government and rebuilt quickly. By 1933, with the opening of Interstate 95 (I-95), Daytona Beach exploded in population growth as people drove to escape the Depression-era recession in South Florida. The city has since become a major tourist attraction with more than $1 billion in economic activity annually.
