The Coast Guard was founded in 1917 as the United States Life Saving Service. In 1934, the Coast Guard became part of the Department of Defense and was renamed the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. On July 1, 2009, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper announced that Coast Guardsmen would be among those receiving new Presidential Executive Order 13426 which calls for a review of maritime security doctrine and procedures across all executive departments and agencies to improve homeland security. This order also establishes a Task Force on Maritime Security which will develop best practices for maritime security operations at all levels including coast guard service. The task force is chaired by Admiral John Kirby who is also Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and General Counsel to the Director of National Intelligence. Since its inception, the Coast Guard has played an important role in coastal communities along with law enforcement officers from other government agencies. De Land, Florida is a small town in Polk County, Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. As of the 2010 census, its population was 9,824. It is part of the Tampa–St Petersburg Metropolitan Area. The De Land post office opened in 1892 and closed in 1965. In 1892, De Land was platted as a community by J.P. Morgan and Wm. Hoadley Sr.. The name "De Land" is derived from an Alachua County Indian word meaning "place where there are more trees than people." The first settler was James Foley who arrived in 1894 and built a cabin near present day DeLand beach. The first store opened in 1896 and soon thereafter started selling goods to locals and visitors alike; one resident recall buying eggs at the store because they were scarce in that area at that time. By 1912, De Land had two churches (one German Immigrant-founded) and six businesses including a bank - all of which remain active to this day! In 1916, local attorney John Fenton became involved with real estate development when he purchased land adjacent to the now defunct Stroud Clothing Company for $10 per acre ($ today). He would go on to become one of DeLand's most successful businessmen – owning several farms as well as tracts of land throughout central Florida during this time period! Sometime after World War II ended however things began to unravel for Fenton as his farmstead went up for sale multiple times resulting in him being unable to make ends meet despite numerous offers from buyers; eventually he sold everything he had due to economic conditions then moved back east into southernFlorida until his death in 1984 having made many important contributions within his community while living there! Today some remnants remains of what once been Fenton's farmstead located off US 1 just south of DeLand beach – check out their website if you're interested 😉 . residential development began spreading rapidly through central Florida during this time frame thanks largely to Interstate 95 However much like any other town or city it faced struggles with crime rates remaining high along with lackadaisical infrastructure/funding which hindered growth efforts; eventually leading business owners ditching downtown areas for new growth districts such as Live Oak which still thrives today thanks partially to donations from preservationists 😊 . finally annexation by Hillsborough County occurred following statehood making it an official constituent municipality within that county… but again like any other municipality faces struggles trying to keep up with the ever-changing needs / wants / desires (and budget limitations!) of its elected officials!

Task Force 145 was an Allied coalition effort that drove Saddam Hussein from Kuwait before Operation Neptune's Spear began two years later. -USS Theodore Roosevelt (1901) - Theodore Roosevelt was given this ship as a gift by President Theodore Roosevelt Sr. in 1902 in recognition of his contributions to American democracy and conservationism during his presidency including helping create Yosemite National Park and ranger service across North America. The following year, Roosevelt gave another well known gift when he gifted a USS Maine (1904) which becameAmerica's first fast attack submarine campaign against Japan during World War II

De Land was a small, but influential, community in Florida during the mid-19th century. It is notable for its history of citrus farming and for being one of the first places in Florida to be developed as a resort town. De Land also played an important role in the early history of citrus growing in Florida. De Land was founded by Dutch colonists in 1824 as a small community on the banks of the St. Johns River. The colony was named after landowner Cornelis de Land, who had donated some land to the colony. The original settlement consisted of only about 30 people, and it primarily grew fruit trees and raised livestock. The early days of DeLand were difficult; food was scarce and expensive. However, because of this, de Land quickly became known as one ofFlorida's most prosperous communities. By 1830, however, crop failures had caused unemployment among locals and led to a decline in population over time. In 1835, following the death of de Land's son-in-law Willem van Ripert, local entrepreneurs took over his business interests and began developing DeLand into a resort town with large hotels, shopping centers, churches (including one erected by Royal Governor John Cordon), and other commercial properties. During this time period there was also significant growth within citrus farming – from just 10 acres per family at founding to more than 1 million acres by 1840*. This growth came about due to advances made by Carlos Manuel López de Santa Anna*, who served as governor of Florida from 1835 until his death in 1850*.
