The history of the De Land Shooter Gift Shop dates back to the early 1940s. The shop was founded by two men, Ozzie and Harry DeLand, who were both gun owners and dealers. The DeLand Shooter Gift Shop grew quickly, and soon had a large selection of firearms available for purchase. In the late 1940s, HarryDeLAND began selling ammunition, and in 1951 he opened his own store (the current location) on Floridian Drive in De Land. Over time, the shop added other firearms-related items to its inventory, including shotguns and rifles. In 1977, HarryDeLAND passed away, but his son Ozzie continued operations until 1993 when it closed its doors forever. Today, the store is operated by his grandson Mario DeLand Jr., who has continued to carry firearms and ammo products from his father's legacy. Over time, theDeLand Shooter Gift Shop has become an important part of Florida's firearm history. It has been a source of valuable advice and support for many residents who have wanted to purchase a firearm or learn more about GUNS safety precautions. The De Land Shooter Gift History began in 1984 when George "Red" Vaught opened his shooting range in De Land, Florida. Red had been a member of the NRA for many years and was now opening up his business to the public. He started giving away firearms as gifts to new customers, and soon enough, he had a large collection of firearms available for purchase. In 1992, Red passed away and his son, George "Joe" Vaught took over the business. Joe continued to give away firearms as gifts until 2003 when he decided to close the business due to too much competition from online retailers. Since then, Georges gift history has continued with various family members taking over the business until it currently stands at seven stores across Florida.
De Land, Florida is a small town in Monroe County, Florida. It was founded in 1836 by General James K. Polk and his wife Julia C. Grant, who had come from Kentucky. The community was named for General De Land's Creek which ran through it. The population of De Land was 1,812 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in DeLand were families from Kentucky and Virginia who arrived during the 1830s and 1840s to start new lives in what was then an area rich with natural resources: sugar cane, cotton, panhandle timber, and fish stocks. By 1850 there were over 100 residents living in DeLand – all farmers or traders who plied their trade within easy reach of both Jacksonville and Tampa Bay. In 1876 a railroad extension reached DeLand from Jacksonville; this stimulated growth as shipping became more available on the newly opened route. In 1898 Boca Raton seceded from Monroe County to form its own county (and grow into today's Palm Beach County).Today much of what once constituted DeLand has been absorbed into neighboring communities such as Sanford or Kissimmee while parts have been annexed by other municipalities including Lakeland or Melbourne

De Land is a small town in northwestern Florida, United States. It is located on the western edge of the panhandle, near Pensacola and Mobile Bay. The population was 1,566 at the 2010 census. De Land is notable as it was the location of Fort Walton Beach during World War II and for its role in the history of Gulf Coast cotton farming. The area now known as De Land was first populated by Seminole Indians who lived there before European exploration began. The name "De Land" is thought to be derived from an Indian word meaning "the place where people-a Creek chief named Degarmahtas and his family-had been fishing." By 1827, French traders had started trading with the Seminoles here, buying goods such as food, horses, tobacco and slaves. In 1828, Governor Manuel Alonso de la Torre established a post at what is now called Fort Walton Beach onshore from present-day DeLand to protect Spanish colonists living in this area from raiding by Seminoles. The fort served as a military base until 1898 when it was abandoned after being burned by natives aligned with Spain. In 1829–1830 Spanish explorer Dionisio de Soto landed at what is now Pensacola Bay on his ill-fated attempt to find an entrance into South America through Cuba; he may have reached land that later became De Land when his crew sighted shoals of fish near shore. In 1830–1831 Spanish navigator Juan Ponce de Leon visited Fernandina Island which lies between mainland Alabama and PensacolaBay; he likely encountered land that later became part of DeLand because of its close proximity to PensacolaBay In 1834 Captain John Smith discovered Stonington Harbor on what would eventually become Jacksonville Bay adjacent to present day Miami; this harbor would become one of Englishtown's most important commercial ports due to its location close enough to bothlandmarks for shipping and trade By 1840 over 25 plantations were operating along Gulf Coast cotton plantations making up much of the local economy including those that still operate today such as Slater Tobacco Company Incorporated (Slater), founded in 1902 by Cushman Slater Jr., one of Florida's leading landowners Gulf Coast cotton production changed dramatically following American Civil War when Confederate forces destroyed muchof southern plantation agriculture while textile mills rapidly began production across state lines later becoming known as "Cotton Belt" states such as Alabama developed large populations centers around these industrial cities creating suburban areas characterized today by high levelsOf segregation
De Land, Florida was a plantation in the state of Florida. The plantation was founded by John DeLand and his wife Elizabeth in 1795. It grew to be one of the largest and most successful plantations in the area. The De Lands were known for their high-quality cotton crops and bred many of the leading early cotton farmers in the state. In 1837, they sold their property to J. P. Morgan and others, which led to its decline during the 1830s as a result of low production levels and competition from more recent plantations. It regained some success during Reconstruction period until it lost its status as a major slaveholding operation after emancipation in 1865.
