Coffee has been around for centuries, and De Land, Florida is home to the first coffee house in America. The Coffee House was built in 1818 by Captain John Foust and his wife Sarah. It served as a meeting place for the town's citizens and was also used as a store. In 1843, Captain Foust moved the Coffee House to its present location on Second Street. The Coffee House was closed in 1886 due to financial difficulties. However, it reopened in 1888 under new management and continued serving coffee until it closed again in 1928. The current building was built in 1968-1970 by Ronny Olsen and contains an attached garage that serves as an office space for the shop. The Coffee House remains one of De Land's most popular tourist attractions and is open every day from 7am to 6pm except Sundays when it is open from 9am to 5pm.

The first coffee shop in De Land, Florida opened its doors in 1927. The business was known as the Coffee Shop on Main Street. The shop was a small, but successful operation that served locals and tourists alike. In 1951, the Coffee Shop moved to its current location at 320 S Glen Cove Drive. In 1969, the Coffee Shop became one of the first businesses to open in DeLand when it relocated from its original location on Main Street. At that time, the shop operated out of four small bedrooms above a garage. Today, the Coffee Shop offers coffee drinks and pastries all day long with a focus on local flavor and history.
De Land is a small town located in St. Lucie County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,611 at the 2010 census. The De Land community is home to many notable landmarks and attractions, including the De Land Museum and Park, the DeLand Aviation Museum, and the DeLand Golf Club. The first Europeans to encounter the area were Spanish explorers in 1565 who named it La Isla de la Bahia (Island of Bay). In 1821, Jacksonville developer James P. White purchased land adjacent to what is now De Land from Indian tribe members in what is now Polk County. White named his new community after Holland's Bay on Lake Okeechobee which he had seen while exploring the area for a railroad route through Miami-Dade County. He also built a courthouse and other infrastructure in what is today De Land. In 1906, deed restrictions were placed on white development of land around present day De Land by African Americans who lived near Tamiami Trail during Reconstruction following the American Civil War as part of an effort to maintain order during that time period. This so-called "Jim Crow laws" prevented black men from owning property or working within white neighborhoods north of Fort Myers Beach until after World War II when they were finally allowed access to those areas through exempting them from public housing regulations enacted during the war years alone. In 1948, post office box number 162 was established at what is nowBP BP gas station off US 1 in downtown DeLand by then-owner Wm Goudreau as part of efforts by local businesses to promote their presence Downtown during this period of rapid growth throughout much of St Lucie County due to military activity and federal investment There has been no active postal service operation within Decland since 1978 when ZIP code 32712 was established with its current center just east of I-4 exit 12A southbound; prior USPS facilities were located along I-4 Exit 12A eastbound at milepost 313 & 331/UAS Parkway

De Land is a town in Monroe County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,771 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Daytona Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that now De Land was first settled by Seminoles in 1819 as "Tallahassee". In 1827, General Andrew Jackson called it "Esquadra de la Union" (Union Square) because of its location near Tallahassee and Kissimmee. The name was changed to DeLand in 1898 due to concerns about confusion with Daytona Beach on the east coast ofFlorida. In 1907, DeLand became home to the first golf course in Florida when J.B. Hines donated land north of State Road 518 for use as a club course for men only. That year also saw the opening of stores and businesses such as Palm House Cigars and Journeys Clothing Store by entrepreneur John Waddell; this business would later become known as Waddell's Supermarket. It wasn't until 1913 that Jacksonville-based developer Noble Atherton put together what would become one of De Land's most recognizable landmarks – Atherton's Progress Store which stood on present day US-1 between US-441/SR 518 and SR 620 across from Central Park – giving De Land an early start in commerce and infrastructure development within its boundaries today. Atherton continued developing his property until he sold it to local businessman Clarence Dickey in 1944 who renamed it Dickey Farms after himself; the farm still stands today next to Interstate 441 southbound exit 192 off I-441 Business Loop just east of milepost 190 (exit 191). In 1947, Dickey hired architect Edward Bennett Webb to design a new shopping center called Evergreen Shopping Centre which ultimately housed several local businesses including Sears, Roebuck & Co., JCPenney and GDO - one of its earliest store locations outside Chicago / Detroit areas then being available within easy reach for those living in central Florida or southeastern Michigan etc.. Dickey passed away in 1951 before ever seeing his project complete but his memory lives on through Evergreen Shopping Centre still standing today! In 1959, following completion of Interstate 95 bypassing much of central Florida including DeLand along with other nearby communities like Stonington (then spelled Starling), Volusia (now Dunnellon), Sanford (now Winter Garden) and Ocala (then spelled Gainesville), much development took place around what is now downtown DeLand with many new hotels being built such as Renaissance Tower Hotel & Towers II followed by Regency Ballroom Hotel & Towers III just south Of State Road 623/US 1 inside City Hall Plaza soon followed by multiple highrise buildings such as Clearwater Tower I&II located just northeast Of First Avenue South currently housing numerous office towers some dating back over 100 years including One Altitude Professional Office Tower
The De Land area was originally part of the Soo Largo Indian Nation. The area became a part of the United States in 1821 when it was purchased from the Soo Largo Indians by Andrew Jackson. In 1832, the De Land district was organized as a county and named for Captain John De Land, an American soldier who fought in the Mexican-American War. The county seat was at Jacksonville. In 1907, Jacksonville became a city and the name of its first mayor was J.B. Pembroke. In 1912, Jacksonville annexed parts of St Johns County to form a new city called Jacksonville Beach. On October 1, 1923, Jacksonville Beach annexed portions of Duval County to form a new city called Port Everglades which still exists today as an independent municipality within Miami-Dade County boundary
