The Marines of the United States Marine Corps (USMC) are a professional soldier and naval infantry unit that has been in existence since 1775. The Marine Corps is one of the few military services to have both World War II-era service members and current troops serving in Afghanistan, Iraq, and now Syria. The marines are also deployed around the world frequently on operations such as counterterrorism missions, disaster relief, peacekeeping tasks, and more.
