The USS Constitution (CV-2) was the lead ship of the United States Navy's first fleet of battleships. She was laid down on 7 May 1864 at Norfolk, Virginia, and launched on 14 October 1864. The Constitution arrived in San Francisco Bay on 15 December 1864 and began operations as flagship of Rear Admiral William Halsey's Task Force X in January 1865. On 10 February 1865, Constitution captured CSS Sumter off Charleston Harbor and became the first American warship to capture a Confederate vessel. On 5 April 1865, Constitution escorted USSJefferson from Mobile Bay to Pensacola Beach, Florida. The task force then blockaded Cuba for several months before departing for Havana on 15 June 1865. In November 1865, Constitution participated in the Battle of Santiago Heights during the Mexican–American War. On 12 November 1865, she collided with HMS Warrior while sailing through Cuban waters near Guantanamo Peninsula; this caused extensive damage to Warrior which required repairs both ashore and at sea. The Constitution sailed back into Hampton Roads for repairs on 17 December 1865; she reached port again on 3 January 1886 after completing more than 1,000 days at sea overall. In 1898 she decommissioned and was sold to Greek Shipping Lines under her original name "Pheidippides". She served as a training ship until being scrapped in 1912.

Debary is a town in Brevard County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,596 at the 2010 census. The first people to live in the area now known as Debary were the Aisles family who came from Massachusetts in 1839. In 1845, John Fenton purchased some land and named it after his mother's homeport of Plymouth, England which he had visited while on his honeymoon. A post office called Debary was established in 1847, and remained in operation until 1959. The town developed around the Methodist Episcopal church which was built in 1855 and dedicated by Gov. Thomas Ricketts Sr. The first store opened in 1865 and soon became a popular stop for travelers on their way to Fort Myers or Naples. By 1870, there were nine stores and two hotels with a population of over 1,000 people. In 1886 (the year before the county seat moved from Fort Myers to Debary), the first school was constructed on what is now Main Street In 1898 (the year before statehood), Debary became one of seven towns incorporated into Brevard County when it was created from portions of Broward and Palm Beach counties.. In 1902 (the year before Hurricane Andrew struck Miami), construction began on what would become one of Brevard County's most famous landmarks: Disney World Studios which would later become part of Walt Disney Company
Debary, Florida was founded in 1836 by the brother of newspaper editor and politician James G. Blount. The town was named after a small island in Lake Michigan that served as the site of an early fortification. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the banks of the St Johns River, which made it an important commercial center for the area. In 1848, Debary became a county seat and began to develop into a major agricultural center. After World War II, Debary experienced growth as a bedroom community for Gainesville and Orlando. However, recent economic decline has led to some shrinkage of the population and most businesses have closed or relocated within the last decade.
