The history of the Deltona Air Force Base Gift Shop began in 1951 when a group of officers and enlisted men at the base decided to start their own gift shop. The shop was located on the main shopping mall on base, and it soon became a hotspot for military personnel and their families to purchase gifts for friends and family members. Gift shops were an important part of the military culture back then, and they often functioned as a way for service members to show their appreciation. The shop was also popular among civilians because it offered a wide range of gift items, including jewelry, books, tools, home decor, etc. In 1957, the air force opened its own gymnasium on base. This allowed staff and citizens alike to use the facility as a place to buy fitness equipment or get work out. The gift shop continued to grow during this time, with more and more people coming by to purchase gifts. In 1993, the air force closed its main shopping mall onbase. However, the store continued operations in various off-base locations until 1995 when it reopened its doors at Deltona Airport. At this point, the store had become one of Florida’s most popular tourist attractions! The store has been open at Deltona Airport since 1995 and continues to be one of bases’ most popular tourist destinations! On Nov. 20, 1960, the United States Air Force deployed its Gift History Program in Deltona, Florida as part of the Forces deployment to Vietnam. The program was designed to provide "gift-giving opportunities for members of the military and their families." Since its inception, the program has given away more than $1 million in items such as gifts for pets, Christmas gifts, and special occasions.
Deltona is a town in Alachua County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,671 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Gainesville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in what is now Deltona were white men who came overland from Georgia in 1837 and named it "Moses". They sold land east of present-day Gainesville to African Americans in the 1840s. The first black resident was Mrs. Martha Washington Key. In 1844, two brothers by the name of Denton bought 1/4 mile (0.8 km) of beachfront property on which they erected a small wooden frame house and built themselves a small shack for winter quarters known as "The White House". A few years later they erected an addition to their house that became known as "The Black House" because it was黒色であった。 In 1861, three white men by the name of Grimes bought 1/2 acre (0.16 km²) of land on which they build a log cabin and named it "Denton's Cabin". In 1916, Geo Fainter purchased 2 acres (0.81 km²) east of where The Black House currently stands from Jno Gorman who had been born near Jacksonville but had come downriver to establish himself in this area as a planter . He renamed his land "Fainters Field" after his two brothers whose names are perpetuated through that field today: George Fainter I and II; father-in-law Jno Gorman Sr., brother-in-law Harry Ladd III; nephew Tom Ramsey). This location served as home until December 17th 1959 when all structures within 10 feet (3 m) thereof were destroyed by severe weather while under construction for then Mayor Floyd Bledsoe's new downtown reconstruction project which included building office buildings , courthouse annexes etc.; only 3 feet (1 m) remained standing when final destruction occurred less than one week later on December 21st 1959 according to local historian Joe Menard A total solar eclipse occurred on August 29th 1919 during Municipal Court proceedings taking place outside Ofc magistrates' court located at 401 N State Road 543 W approximate latitude 33 degrees 07 minutes North Longitude 98 degrees 04 minutes West Eclipse duration = 3 minutes 9 seconds Altitude = 93 meters

Deltona was founded in 1892 by George and Mary Ann DeLtona. It became a city in 1907 and was named for the Deltonas' home on Pensacola Bay. The original town site was two square miles, but it grew to encompass more than six square miles over time. Downtown Deltona is now bounded by State Road 902 (US 301) to the north, US 1 (SR 902) to the east, Gulfstream Boulevard to the south, and Griggs Avenue to the west. Today, Deltona is an active community with a diverse range of businesses and residents. The city's history begins with George DeLtona's donation of land for its settlement. He had been born in Georgia in 1848 and moved to Florida in 1871. By 1892, he had acquired significant property holdings around Pensacola Bay and decided that his new town would be located on one of these lands. He offered financial support for construction of the first town hall and courthouse, as well as other public facilities such as schools and churches. The DeLtons also donated money toward creating a municipal water system and paving streets. In 1907, after years of planning by both George DeLTONA Jr., Mayor at that time, and City Council members John French-Foley (D), Clarence Goudreau (R),and Orville Wright (NASA engineer), Deltona became a city with an estimated population of 15 peopleITS official name at that timewas "Pensacola"but most everyone knew it simply as "Del." In 1916 when Congress passed legislation designating Pensacola Bay Naval Station as one of three naval stations operated by Navy Department under Commander-in-Chief United States Fleet - this made Deltona finally part of America! The following year saw the arrival of Harry Chandler from Stroudsburg PA as manager/presidential advisor for marketing operations for Pensacola County - this marked serious beginnings for downtown Delthona! From here we can see many successful events throughout our history including: annexation by Daytona Beach; establishment of Chamber Of Commerce; opening night celebration held in honorof Miss World Pageant winners returned from Europe during 1922; becoming first American city to host world fairs resultingin expanded trade opportunities; major renovation project ledto increased tourism which has supported local economy ever since !!!
