The history of the United States Army and its gifts to the people of Deltona, Florida goes back to World War II. The United States Armed Forces were activated in 1942 as a result of the Pearl Harbor Attack and had an initial strength of only 26,000 men. However, by 1945, the Army had grown to over 1 million soldiers and sailors. In 1944, General George C. Marshall issued Order No. 1 which called for all departmental commanders in the army to contribute $10 million towards military construction projects in Southern California (then known as "The South"). This order led to the construction of Camp Roberts in Deltona and Camp Swigert on Lake Wales Island. These two camps would be home to more than 10,000 troops during World War II. Throughout World War II,Deltona was a key location for USArmy forces stationed in Southern Florida. In addition to Camp Roberts and Camp Swigert, other key installations include Fort Pierce (now part of Everglades National Park), Fort Myers (now part of Miami-Dade County), Ft Walton Beach (now part of Walton County), Pensacola (now part of Escambia County), Jacksonville (now known as Jacksonville Beach), Tampa Bay Naval Base, etc. Today's USArmy presence in southern Florida is supportive rather than Military; however there are still several key installations located withinSouthern Florida that play an important role in USmilitary operations both here at home and abroad:

The Deltona, Florida Army National Guard is a branch of the United States Armed Forces. The unit was organized on December 12, 1941 as the 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment (25th Infantry Division). The regiment was redesignated the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment (27th Infantry Division) on November 15, 1947 and again redesignated the 1st Battalion, 25th Infantry Division on May 3, 1951. The battalion was redesignated the 1st Battalion (Majestic), 25th Infantry Division on April 9, 1957 and then again redesignated as the 1st Battalion (5th Marine Regiment), Marine Corps Reserve on June 10, 1987.
Deltona, Florida is a small town in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The population was 17,771 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami–Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area. Deltona was founded in 1892 by Henry C. Cobb and named for his brother Delia on the banks of the Stonington River. The first post office in Deltona opened in 1895. The economy of Deltona is based largely on agriculture, with over one hundred farms and ranches operating in the town. There are also several small businesses located around town that provide services such as home repairs, groceries, and lawn care. Most people who live in or visit Deltona work outside of town; however, there are a few local businesses that support local residents and contribute to their economy. The area now known as Deltona was once much more heavily populated with Seminole Indians than white Americans due to its strategic location between two major slave markets - Mobile and Pensacola - making it an ideal place to grow cotton plantations during the early 1800s. However, by 1840 most of what is now Deltona had been developed as a farming community primarily composed of African American slaves working on tobacco plantations owned by white owners near present day Miami Beach. After emancipation began in 1865 many black men were immediately sent away from Confederate States of America (CSA) territory back to Africa where they would be killed or sold into slavery prior to their return settlement – this led to significant numbers of African Americans living within sight or sound of white settlers throughout much former Confederate territory including parts currently belonging to Miami-Dade County including parts now called Palm Beach Gardens and Jupiter FL In 1892 Henry Cobb purchased some land east of present day downtown for $2 per acre from Jno Lomas who had purchased land adjacent to what is today Military Road/Upton Boulevard southward from Don Nehlen’s original plantation holdings dating back before 1815 which stretched all along today’s Everglades Trail corridor from Clearwater Lake through Estero Pass northward . In 1886 Mr Lomas had built his own large cotton plantation complex consisting 6 miles long containing up to ninety acres adjoining other tracts held by others including Manuel Fernandez & Co., James Pritchett & Son , Nicholas Negrete y Dominguez & Co., John Baez & Brothers etc… This extensive system included six miles long single track road leading directly into Plantation Creek point beyond which flowed Plantation Creek itself forming an important water source for numerous fields operations irrigating over 2 million acres…. By 1893 when H C Cobblepot acquired title deed he also acquired rights/uses extending deep into Indian Country being situated just south Ofpresent day Uptown Ft Myers proper limits Ofvarious Iron Tomb sites marked off On map these Iron Tomb Sites Appear To Be Ancient Burial Mounds But Only Since 1900 Have We Beenable To Realize They Were Built By Native American Chiefs Who Died In Battle For Independence From Spain Who Lost That War At One Point Apalachicola Bay Was More Than Three Miles Wide And Still Depends On tidal action Which Could Cause submergence OfMuncie Island OrAnother Island Within Current Water Range Anyhow Given The Geographyand Weather Conditions As They Are Now We Will Probably Never Know What Really Happened When The English Left Haiti In 1625 All Those Years Ago

Deltona, Florida is a town in Duval County, Florida, United States. The population was 11,681 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 1907, Deltona became an incorporated community with a population of 1,200. By 1939 it had grown to 6,000 and by 1959 it had reached its present size of 11,681 residents. The area that now makes up Deltona was first populated by Timucua Indians who were killed by settlers in the early 1800s for their scalps and other artifacts. A post office was established in 1875 and named for Lieutenant Colonel John Sleddell (1812-1876), commander of U.S. Marines during the Seminole Wars who also settled in what is today Deltona on Doña Ana River near present day Pensacola Beach Boulevard. In 1907, two brothers – William Waddell and Clarence Murchison – founded a citrus grove just east of downtown Deltona which they titled "Murchison's Citrus Grove" after their father-in-law General James Murchison (1796-1863). The grove grew rapidly thanks to the addition of new trees and irrigation systems as well as marketing subsidies from the Florida Department of Agriculture under Governor Slaton Pogue (1846-1915). By 1939 there were over 100 fruit trees growing on 5 acres with total production totaling 375 crates per acre yielding $1 million annually! On October 15th 1940 US President Franklin D Roosevelt addressed a crowd gathered at Pensacola Beach for Naval Week when he announced that "the United States Government has made known to you that it desires to annex Duval County." The annexation would make Duval one of only five counties in Florida not represented by any state legislature; all others were included within newly created Broward County (then unincorporated) south of Miami Executive Park on May 14th 1941 following ratification of legislation creatingbrowardcountysecededDuval countyon January 3rd 1946 . After more than three years debate over whether or not to annex Duval county due largely to concerns about water security issues specifically around Palm Beach Gardens Lake - ultimately the decision was made unanimously…and so began history as DuvalCounty became part OfBrowardCounty
