The Dunedin, Florida National Guard is one of the oldest and most well-respected units in the United States. It was established in 1892 as a volunteer force to provide support for the local police and militia. The Guard has since morphed into an all-volunteer force with over 146,000 members. The Guard traces its roots back to 1892 when Dunedin residents formed a volunteer group to provide support for the local police and militia. Over time, the Guardsmen have evolved into an all-volunteer force that provides security and protection in communities across America. From here, donations continued to flow in until 1911 when the Blanchard Infantry Armory was dedicated to house national guard rifles within its walls. This donation allowed the Guardsmen to field test their new weapons during World War I. The Armory also served as a training ground for future Guardsmen who would serve in conflicts such as World War II or Vietnam. Throughout the years, different organizations have given money or property to help fund national guard gifts throughout Dunedin. In 1975, The City of Dunedin dedicated an entire block of downtown streetscape space known as "National Guard Boulevard" to honor those who have donated time and resources towards protecting our community. Today, this space continues to be used by various organizations within our city as a place where they can gather ideas and feedback on growing initiative or programues

For example, during the 1992 Gulf War, over 1,000 Guardsmen from across the United States were called into service to support Operation Desert Storm. In addition, the National Guard has been called upon to provide logistical support for various Federal agencies including Homeland Security and Immigration Customs Enforcement. This type of assistance allows agencies to function more smoothly and efficiently while protecting our citizens from potential threats. The Dunedin National Guard was organized on Dec. 17, 1917 as the Florida National Guard. The Dunedin unit was mobilized on Feb. 9, 1918 and reported to Camp Blanding at Jacksonville, Florida. On Apr. 3, 1918 the regiment was redesignated the 1st Battalion, Dunedin Regiment (Florida National Guard) and deployed to France in support of World War I. After returning from war service in 1919 the battalion reorganized and mobilized for World War II on Nov. 10th 1940 under the command of Lt Col George Dyer Jr.. The battalion served in Europe from May 1941 until September 1945 when it returned home to garrison duty in Dunedinuntil disbanding effective Jan. 1947

Dunedin, Florida is a city in the US state of Florida. It was founded in 1837 byCaptain James Dunmore as a fur-export center on the Dunnesee River. The first permanent town in what is today Dunedin was established in 1840, and it became a county seat in 1851. In 1907, it became an incorporated municipality. The population of Dunedin was 30,814 at the 2010 census. The area that now makes up Dunedin was originally inhabited by Timucua Indians and Seminole Indians who had contact with Spanish colonists during the 16th century. A mission (Gospel Mission) for these people was established here in 1768 by Father José de la Torre y Pacheco. This mission later became known as Our Lady of Good Counsel which operated until 1837 when Captain James Dunmore founded the town here on the banks of theDunnesee River. One of the earliest settlers here was John White who arrived around 1800 and built a log cabin on what is now State Road 82 near where he still lives today. He also erected some early buildings including a courthouse and jail which are still standing today. The National Guard has a rich history in the United States. The first national guard unit was organized on July 4, 1775, by George Washington as a response to the French and Indian War. The first National Guard regiment, the 1st Rhode Island Regiment of Infantry, was raised on December 15, 1776. From its inception through World War II, the National Guard performed many patriotic duties including providing security for American embassies and consulates abroad; providing military support to local governments during emergencies such as riots or political disturbances; and guarding important infrastructure like bridges and highways. During World War II, the National Guard played an important role in both America’s victory over Japan and the liberation of Europe from Nazi occupation. In 1945, when President Truman activated all American combat troops into federal service to end World War II, the National Guard remained intact as an independent branch of government. Today, there are more than 3 million active duty members of the National Guard – making it one of America’s most powerfuloso reserve components. One reason why the National Guard is so entrenched in American culture is its history of giving back to society. For example, since 1947 when state militias were converted into units called “National Guardsmen” under Title 10 U.S.C., every state has had at least one unit participating in national defense exercises and training programs- including deployment to fight in Operation Desert Storm in 1991 or Operation Noble Eagle III training mission earlier this year near Phoenix Arizona). Additionally, each month sees numerous events across America honoring those who have served with distinction with Commander’s Awards (e such as ribbons worn at parades), Commendation Medals (commemorative coins given out at various ceremonies), Defense Unit Citations (gold stars awarded to units that complete specific missions or operations), etc.. Dunedin is a small town located in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. The population was 6,890 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa-St Petersburg-Clearwater metropolitan area. Once a thriving agricultural community, Dunedin has seen an influx of retirees and workers in recent years as the economy has shrunk. The first settlers to Dunedin were farmers who arrived from Ireland in 1835. By 1838, there were six families living in the town. In 1856, a post office was established and by 1860, it had twenty residents. At that time, dunedin had two schools and one store. A sawmill was started in 1861 and by 1865 it had thirteen operators working it. In 1865, two churches were built: First Congregational Church (now Christ Church) and Methodist Episcopal Church (now First Baptist). The first school opened in 1870; however the present day high school building was not completed until 1925. In 1888, incorporation took place with twelve businesses joining forces to form what would become Dunedin's first Chamber of Commerce: Merchants' Exchange Company Limited Partnership (). This company functioned as a marketing tool for the village; it promoted local products and services to buyers throughout Hillsborough County through advertising campaigns and meetings with merchants on various issues such as land sales or education reform topics. Prominent early members of this group included Wm Vanderbilt Sampson (founder of Vanderbilt University), Denton Lumber Co., J C Hogg & Sons Distillery (owned by Hogg), Mrs Fannie Lou Holtzclaw Midgett Nursery School (), J P Farrell & Sons Cigar Store (), Matson Coal Mines (), Kosciusko Furniture Company () The growth of citrus production led to increased demand for goods made from wood pulp products which began shipping into Tampa Bay from southern Florida via Clearwater River during World War I. During World War II many jobs were created within the military industrial complex related to war materiel development including airplane manufacturing plants munitions production facilities shipbuilding yards etcetera.
