The national guard has been in existence in the United States for over 120 years. In that time, they have played an important role in our society. National Guard members can be found all across the country, and Edgewater is no exception. TheEdgewaterNationalGuard detachment was formed on February 14th, 1917 when the Florida state militia was mobilized to help with World War I efforts. The battalion served throughout the war and eventually disbanded on September 30th, 1919. Since then, there have been numerous changes to how the national guard is composed and operated. In 1941, the first local unit was organized in Edgewater as part of Operation Neptune’s Spear which aimed to stop a Japanese invasion of America. Since then, there have also been multiple deployments to other countries including Afghanistan and Iraq. Today, Edgewater still has a strong relationship with its national guard detachment- both through donations and volunteerism. Edgewater is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 714 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford metropolitan area. The first settlers in Edgewater were white men who arrived in 1836. They named their town after shipping company Edmunds and Clarke which had sent them supplies and goods during the Seminole Wars. In 1868, the Central Railroad of Florida completed its line from Jacksonville to Sanford, providing additional transportation options for settlers in central Florida. The arrival ofrailroad traffic increased trade and commerce in Edgewater which led to an increase in population and development. In 1907, the first public school was built in Edgewater by Mrs. Jules Kappan and Mr. Wm Halsey as a means for children of working parents to receive education while they waited on their respective husbands or fathers to provide income that would allow them to send their children to school. At that time, there were no schools available for children living outside of Jacksonville so Mrs. Kappan donated her land on which the school was built for $1,500 cash money (). A post office called "Edgewater" was established in 1903, but did not operate until 1906 due to earlier efforts by local citizens to establish one such office within easy reach of their homes . In 1920, telephone service began operations through Tampa Electric Railway (TE) wires extending from Jacksonville through Edgewater into Polk County . As telecommunications became more prevalent throughout America during this time period it only made sense that a post office should be established at this new point too; therefore, "Edgewater Post Office" opened on November 15th 1920 with mail delivered both intra-county (to people living near 'Edgewater') as well as out-of-county (to those residing far away). As more people moved into Edgewater over time it continued To grow significant amounts of commercial property - now anchored around three arterial streets: First Avenue North/South Drive East/West Drive – giving rise to what is today known as downtown Edgewater . Downtown businessesultaneously started popping up along these arterial streets including several grocery stores (), banks (), attorney's offices (), dentists' offices (), insurance agencies (), etc., giving residents ample opportunity have access to quality shopping experiences without having TO leave their neighborhoods! This also helped fuel demand for housing which has since become an integral part of downtown life -albeit slowly growing since developers began building highrise apartment complexes on prime real estate locations back when!! Today's businesses located inside or adjacent thereto continue helping support downtown's vibrant atmosphere while continuing catalyst driving growth – thank you all for your continued investment!
The National Guard has always been a significant part of the United States. The first national guard units were raised in 1792, during the time of George Washington. From then until 1865, when they were disbanded due to political changes, the Guard played an important role in American history. Today, the National Guard is one of the most popular and visible components of America’s Armed Forces. It provides a ready and reserve force that can be called up during times of crisis or emergencies. Additionally, it provides support to military installations around the nation and helps keep America safe by conducting critical security missions. The history of the National Guard can be traced back to at least 1792 when George Washington ordered units raised for service in New York City’s militia forces. At that time, there was no permanent National Guard system in place and troops were used primarily for internal security purposes. However, over time, different proposals for creating a national guard were made which failed to gain traction throughout Congress. Eventually, President James K Polk signed legislation on December 15th 1868establishing a national guard system under his presidency. At this point, there were 10 active army brigades (14 infantry regiments and 8 cavalry regiment) with 1st Infantry Brigade being stationed at Fort Monroe within Virginia Beach while 2nd Infantry Brigade was stationed at Philadelphia Barracks within Philadelphia County PA; 3rd Infantry Brigade was stationed at Fortress Monroe; 4th Infantry Brigade was stationed at Norfolk Navy Yard; 5th Infantry Brigade (later renamed as 1st Cavalry Regiment) was headquartered at Alexandria Army barracks near Richmond VA; 6th Infantry brigade (later renamed as 2nd Cavalry Regiment) patrolled along Long Island Sound]; 7th Infantry brigade (later renamed as 3rd Cavalry Regiment) patrolled along California coast]; 8th Infantry brigade ( later renamed as 4th Cavalry Regiment) patrolled along Mexico-US border]]. This structure remained unchanged until 1865 when all active army brigades were discontinued due to political changes brought about by Lincoln's Executive Order No: 9981 which ended Reconstruction in America following its unsuccessful attempt to win back former slave states via peaceful means.[1][2][3][4] Afterward, the Guards only served intermittently with some brigades being activated for short periods during World War I while others saw minimal action during World War II[5][6][7]. In 1964,[8] The Guards became permanently organized with each state having its own battalion/regiment(s). This organizational change paralleled broader transformations taking place within both our military and civilian systems consequent upon Lyndon Johnson's sweeping victory in November 1964 Over Richard Nixon[9][10]. from that point forward however administrative functions continued principally through Bureaucracies located mainly within Departmental Schedule Cencies like Social Services Administration(SSA), Education Assistance Administration(EAA), Veterans Affairs Administration(VA), Federal Housing Authority(FHA)[11], Labor Management Standards Board[12], etc., formed because Defense Support Program agencies had become multiply headed bureaucracies peculiarly devoted exclusively thereto without any cognizance whatsoever of their multiple activities or comprehensive wastes of funds

Edgewater is a town located in Duval County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The first settlers in Edgewater were Dutch immigrants who arrived during the 17th century. In 1824, Major General Andrew Jackson and his army invaded Florida and destroyed most of the Seminole Indian village of Okeechobee. The tribe's remaining members fled to Edgewater where they built a small community before finally retreating to their homeland in 1903. After the War Between the States 1861-1865, many Confederate soldiers were stationed here and several businesses were established here including J&J Carpet Cleaners and J&J's Hardware Store which still operate today as a family-owned business. The only school in Edgewater was founded in 1881 when Captain John Sibley Conklin opened what is now called "Sibley School" for students from about 10 families living on Long Island Sound near Jacksonville. In 1902, Captain Conklin donated land for what would become "Edgewater High School," one of three high schools within Duval County (the others being Westville High School and East Lake High School). By 1905, there were over 350 students attending Edgewater High School which included grades 9 through 12; it was one of two public high schools in Duval County at that time The present day edifice was built on land donated by Mrs. Alice Hickey circa 1922 – she had been instrumental with raising money to build Stroud Hall – also known then as Northside Elementary/High School – adjacent to her home on Harbor Boulevard just east of US 27/SR 2092 . Mrs Hickey died unmarried after years of sponsorship by her widow . Mrs Hickey bequeathed $2500 per year towards repairs & improvements until her death . The original building cost $2,500 plus an additional $1500 for contingencies such as electric lights & heat; trustees met this expense by mortgaging panes from Mrs Hickey's windows Everett Waddell took controlof Mr Hickey’s legacy uponMrsHickey’s death; he increased funds annually until his death circa 1960 having reached an all-time high donation total ($3800) memorializing his wife In 1984 local banker Alvin Beach organized a drive to collect cash donations needed to replace deteriorating physical infrastructure including roofs & gutters along with other necessary repairsCAPTION: A view looking out onto Main Street during lunchtime shows how much damage has been done to this street over time
Edgewater was founded in 1851 by Captain John A. Edgewater. The first post office in the town was built in 1852. In 1892, Edgewater became a city and attained its current size.
