In 2007-2008 ABC bought out all remaining shares of GCP Corp., ending any potential future liquidation attempts by former shareholders eager to cash out their holdings prior to ABC taking control complete with majority ownership including CEO Donny Wahlberg ( brother of NBA superstar LeBron James). Florida City is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,993 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami–Fort Lauderdale metropolitan area. The history of Florida City starts with Spanish settlers who landed on what is now Flagler Beach in 1795. By 1821, when Congress created Miami as a county seat, Spanish settlers had established themselves along South Key Biscayne Boulevard and Main Street near present-day Kendall Drive. In 1903, founder George Walton donated land to build what would become the first shopping mall in the country when he opened Walton's Shopping Center on Fourth Street east of First Avenue south in downtown Miami. In 1950s and 1960s, Florida City became an important center for aerospace engineering and manufacturing due to its location across from Kennedy Space Center and its access to international airports. The city experienced rapid growth beginning in the late 1990s during which time it annexed portions of Doral and neighbouring communities including Sunrise Gardens (then Sunrise Hills), Plantation Lakeshore (later Plantation Pointe), Belleair Woods (later Belleair Highlands), Cutler Bayou (later Cutler Bayou) and Deerfield Beach. Today much of this growth still occurs with only a minimal impact from recent annexations by neighboring communities such as Coral Gables or Weston Park - two areas that have seen significant population change over recent decades despite not having any industrial activity within their boundaries.

Florida City is a city in the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida metropolitan area, and part of the Pinellas County, Florida region. The population was 827 as of the 2010 census. It has been reported that it may have been founded by Virginians in 1794 as an offshoot of St. Petersburg.[1] In 1835, after being granted a charter from the Seminole Nation, settlers arrived in what is now Florida City. They named their community for Captain Manuel Fortunato de la Hoz y Gomez who had led them to success on their trip down the Gulf Stream from Pensacola, Florida. In 1836, José Martínez and his men submitted a petition to U.S. Congress seeking recognition as a Mexican territory and were successful in getting this done; they renamed themselves Texas Mexico Colony along with La Habana (Havana), Cuba (1836) and Puerto Rico (1843). During World War II, parts of Belleair Beach were annexed by Florida City because it was necessary for military purposes due to its large concentration of warships docked at Naval Base Fort Myers which made it difficult for other towns to provide services such as water or sewer systems without harming naval vessels moored there. The annexation also included much of Balboa Park which still remains within present day California Avenue near US 1/US 4 exit 169A
