The Fort Lauderdale Army Garrison has been in operation since 1947. It is the first installation of its type in Florida and it is one of only a few military installations in the United States which have an active duty garrison. The Garrison serves as home to the 132nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 9th Infantry Division, and also houses a detachment of the 8th Cavalry Regiment. While there are no active-duty units stationed at Fort Lauderdale Army Garrison, there are numerous reserve unit members who rotate through the Garrison during their spare time. Fort Lauderdale, Florida is a city in the state of Florida. The population was 1,643 as of the 2010 census.
