The Fort Pierce, Florida Coast Guard was established in 1912. The original goal of the Coast Guard was to provide a patrol for the seaway and protect the citizens of Fort Pierce and the surrounding area. In 1971, the Coast Guard merged with Miami-Dade County police to form one unified force. In 1978, the Fort Pierce Coast Guard Station opened its doors onancock Boulevard. This station provides live weather updates as well as emergency services including marine Patrol and Search and Rescue. In 1984, a new station was built on John F Kennedy Boulevard which became operational in 1990. The old station building is now used as an office space for the Commandant’s Office. Today, the Fort Pierce Coast Guard Station has over 250 personnel providing service across 12 stations located throughout our region; patrolling waters from Key Largo to Port St Lucie to Jupiter Beach!
