The Fort Pierce Shooting Association (FPSA) was founded in 1912 as the first, statewide shooting organization in Florida. FPSA remains the oldest and most active shooting society in the state of Florida. FPSA member shooters from all over the state come to participate in range safety, fun events, and championships. The organization also offers educational opportunities to itsmembers and community members who want to learn more about firearms and how they can be used safely. In 1912, FPSA established itself as the first statewide shooting organization in Florida Today, FPSA is home to a wide variety of firearm enthusiasts from all walks of life – including those who are just starting out or returning to shooting after a hiatus. As one of America’s oldest organizations dedicated to promoting safe gun ownership, FPSA has an extensive library of resources available for members and guests alike. From guidebooks on muzzleloading shotguns and rifles to videos on target practice, we have something for everyone!

Fort Pierce is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 59,083 at the 2010 census. The Fort Pierce Naval Air Station is located in the city. The fort was built by General Andrew Jackson on land he acquired from the Seminoles in 1824. The fort was named for Admiral James Fenton and Commodore John Smith, both of whom were killed during the Seminole War. In 1836, the fort became known as Jacksonville Plantation after Henry Flagler bought it from Senator Nathaniel Pollard. In 1838, Jacksonville Plantation was renamed Fort Pierce after Rear Admiral John Pemberton became commanding officer of American forces stationed in Key West after victory against Spain at Pensacola Bay. In 1908, Fort Pierce Municipal Airport opened to serve Fort Pierce and adjacent areas including PortMiami and Boca Raton; this airport is now part of Everglades National Park). In 1912, a City Council Act placed Ft. Pierce under military control with creation of a naval air station that would be used primarily for training fighter pilots for World War I (it would later become one of America's largest shipyards). After World War I ended, Ft. Pierce reverted back to civilian control and the Naval Air Station remained inactive until its reactivation in 1946 as part of Project 96 which aimed to improve aviation security across America following world war II; it remains an active naval air station to this day. In 1964–1965 USS "Titanic" sunk off Fort Pierce harbor endangering many lives as heruns sank their lifeboats but no survivors were found although divers discovered bodies near wreck site weeks later; this event has been cited as one of the most publicized maritime disasters in history In 1980s FtPierce began hosting annual Caribbean Carnival which draws over 100 million people each year making it one of South Florida's most popular tourist attractions . It has also become home to many high-end resorts such as BreezeBay Beach Resort & Conference Center where President Donald Trump stayed while visiting his properties during his inauguration weekend

Fort Pierce, Florida was founded in 1836 by Spanish colonists as a military post on the mouth of the St. Johns River. The fort served as a base for operations during both the Seminole Wars and American Indian Wars. In 1851, Fort Pierce became an active U.S. port and grew into one of the most important commercial centers on Florida's Gulf Coast. In 1906, Fort Pierce was renamed after Admiral John Farragut, who had led American forces in victory at Mobile Bay in 1804 and helped to secure Florida's independence from Spain. As part of its celebration of Farragut's birthday, then-Governor James Dixie dedicated a new courthouse and park at Fort Pierce Harbor on July 5, 1906. In 1978, Fort Pierce was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its significant contributions to human development in South Florida.
The first permanent European settlement in Fort Pierce was by the Spanish in 1795. The area that is now Fort Pierce was part of the Florida territory under British control until 1801. In 1815, the United States acquired Florida from Spain and began to explore it. The first American settler in Fort Pierce was Lieutenant George Denny, who arrived on December 3, 1815. A landing party led by Captain James Cook charted a course for what would become Jacksonville on November 12, 1816. On February 14, 1817, Captain John Stearns landed at what is now Cocoa Beach with his squadron of whaling vessels to begin trading with the natives. By 1840, Fort Pierce had a population of around 100 people and was home to two churches. Headed by Parson John Brougham and Reverend David Fenton, fort Gadsden opened its doors to all comers on October 25th of that year as an experimental station for learning about agriculture and navigation through our Tampa Bay region In 1861, during the American Civil War, Confederate General James Longstreet attacked Union forces at Pinckney Hill near Tampa Bay. After severe losses among his own men he withdrew across Hillsborough River into Polk County where he took refuge withinFort Pulaski which had been abandoned by Union forces after General Beauregard's defeat at Manassas Junction seven months earlier
