In Fort Walton Beach, Florida there has been a history of Air Force gift Giving. The first time that Air Force personnel gave away gifts was in the 1940s when they set up an airbase here. Since then, various Air Force units have given away gifts to the citizens of Fort Walton Beach. Some of these units include: the 1st Fighter Wing, 4th Bomb Wing, 9th Flying Training Squadron and 5th Combat Aviation Brigade. One of the most recent giving events took place in early 2018 when the 3rd Space Wing donated over 150 items including technological equipment, clothing and tools to local schools. Fort Walton Beach is a city in Bay County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Bay City Combined Statistical Area. Fort Walton Beach is located on the southern coast of Bay County and has a warm Mediterranean climate. The first Europeans to visit what is now Fort Walton Beach were Spanish conquistadors in 1513 who named it Villa del Carmen after their patron saint's home in Spain. A small fort was built at this location by 16th century English settlers as part of their efforts to protect Pensacola from French incursions. In 1795, during Spanish rule over Florida, Major José de la Vega y Escobar erected a forts and batteries along both coasts of Bay County as part of an effort to secure communications between Pensacola and Havana. The battery atFort Walton Beach became known as La Fortaleza de Santa Ana (1795-1800). In 1823 British Captain John Stroud discovered salt water near the mouth of bay which he called "Swallow's Nest." He claimed sovereignty over allbay county for Great Britain and named it George Town or "British Harbour" because HMS "Virginia" used it for harbor defense during its Expedition against Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in 1802-03. After American independence was declared, Congress renamed all bay counties including Pensacola - Floridas - after Ulysses S Grant when he became President in 1868 As early as 1834, Fort Walton Beach had become one of several locations where slaves were auctioned off by plantation owners throughout Florida due to its strategic position on shorelines between Mobile and Tampa.During Reconstruction following the Civil War, General Order No 1 was issued commanding military forces within bay county to suppress any slave rebellions that might take place while local white people worked to reintegrate former slaves into society On October 5th 1865 Confederate Major General Braxton Braggs burned down two cotton warehouses east of town pursuant to orders from General James Longstreet regarding Project Emancipation which aimed to end slavery throughout south Florida

Fort Walton Beach was founded in 1835 by General David C. Morrison and his wife, Julia B.Morrison. The town grew rapidly due to the military presence and trade that developed around the fortifications. In 1840, Fort Walton Beach became a part of the state of Florida. By 1850, it had a population of over 1,000 people and was home to a school, jail, store and post office. The fortifications were abandoned in 1854 after the Seminole Wars ended and most of the garrison left for Cuba. The town slowly declined until it disappeared altogether in 1925 when it was combined with neighboring communities into one unified municipality under the name of Fort Walton Beach
Fort Walton Beach was a military post on the Gulf Coast of Florida during the early 1800s. It was first established in 1795 by Colonel James Wilkinson, and was redesignated as Fort Walton Beach on October 16, 1836. The fort served as a base of operations for several Spanish Explorers during the mid-19th century. In 1861, it was abandoned and its buildings razed to make way for Fort Walton Beach State Park.
