This gave Fort Walton Beach status as one of America’s “Four Seas Forces” warships. During World War II, navy ships arrived at Ft Walton Beach for training purposes. The most notable mission was Operation Neptune’s Spear which included landing troops on Japanese islands in Lingayen Gulf during World War II. After the war, many navy ships were sold or scrapped and never replaced by new ones; this left Fort Walton beach with a small number of navy vessels still operational today. However, recent activity has seen several new navy vessels arrive at FtW Bradenton including USS Coral Sea (LHD-5) which is homeported at Lake County Marina & Spa Complex and USS Enterprise (CVN 74) which will be stationed at NAS Pensacola until 2020 when she will be transferred to NAS Miami Marine Corps base for further repairs/modification before being mothballed there permanently in 2021!

Fort Walton Beach is a town in Baldwin County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,621 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Panama City metropolitan area. Fort Walton Beach first became an established community in 1892 after its location on a barrier island between Mobile and Pensacola Bay made it convenient for shipping and trade. The original name of the town was "Gulfport". The city of Panama City annexed Fort Walton Beach in 1902, but the annexation was not ratified by the state legislature until 1912. In 1916, local businessmen Arthur J. “Ajax” Smith and Harry Laughlin bought land south of the harbor to develop what would become Fort Walton Beach as a seaside resort town with white-sand beaches and golf courses. By 1924, construction began on what is now known as Americas Pointe Boulevard which led from US Highway 1 to Ft Walton Beach Harbor. The beachfront development continued through World War II when military barracks were built there for soldiers stationed in nearby Mobile and Pensacola Naval Air Station (now NAS Pensacola). After the war ended, many businesses closed down or moved out due to changes in technology or competition from new developments such as Panama City International Airport. However, some businesses such as seafood restaurants and motel chains kept growing until they completely surrounded Ft Walton Beach by 1984 when US 1 bypassed it entirely creating today's urban environment with few remaining beaches open to visitors. In recent years, redevelopment has begun focusing around tourism with new hotels being built along Americas Pointe Boulevard including one that opened in 2018 that features views of both Gulfport and Jacksonville Bay while also serving up light snacks, coffee drinks and breakfast items like waffles and pancakes throughout daylong hours during weekdays only; while other businesses have relocated within Ft Walton Beach itself such as retail stores located near Club Square Shopping Center which offers food kiosks open 24/7 for customers who want something other than just shopping; mixed-use projects are ongoing within downtown areas that include an entertainment district including several night clubs along with several large stores/commercial buildings among them being One Ocean Avenue which houses numerous high end boutiques as well as 3 dozen small grocery store locations; additional development continues ashore on mainland beaches where projects include an NHL team's arena project that will house multiple bars/lounges/sports bars adjacent to it while also housing luxury condos above it; meanwhile inland communities continue developing without any mention of Fort Walton Beach although their populations may be much smaller relative to those onshore
