Gift history can be traced back to 1941 when Captain James Fenton donated a set of Spitfires to the Greenacres Aeronautical Club in memory of his father who had served in World War I. The gift was followed up with another donation in 1944 which included a model submarine called “Sparrow”. In 1951, Captain John Aiken gifted two life jackets to the citizens of Greenacres after learning about their experiences saving people from shipwrecks during hurricanes Irma and Maria. In 1976, Captain Jack Smith took on his first duty as Assistant Commandant at Port Everglades National Park when he provided 10 lifejackets along with other supplies to help protect park visitors from it’s harsh weather conditions. In 1984, Camp Pendleton gave away 6 tents as part of their annual Christmas season giveaway program. Since becoming an all-volunteer coast guard organization in 1982, they have given away more than 1 million items including bikes, books, clothes, snacks and toys along with $2 million in donations! Items that have been donated include motorcycles (25), boats (20), helicopters (10), insignia (6), cars (4), golf carts (2) and even snowmobiles!

Greenacres is a census-designated place in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 9,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami–Fort Lauderdale–Pompano Beach metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1915 by Welsh immigrants as "Redlands." In 1922, it became known as "Greenacres" after its location on the Sawgrass Rancho de la Costa. Its name changed to "Miami Gardens" in 1957 when the old McKinley Park neighborhood merged with Greenacres. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of , of which is land and (1%) is water.

Stevens of Newport News, Virginia. The Coast Guard's first station was at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Virginia Beach, and the first officers were appointed with appointments from the Governors ofVirginia and New York. In 1923, USCGC Taylor was gifted to the Coast Guard by Mrs. Edwin Halsey Bartlett who served as First Lady of Rhode Island from 1922-1929. It is believed that her husband financed its construction at a cost of $1 million dollars which helped establish the Coast Guard as an effective maritime law enforcement agency on Long Island Sound and Atlantic Ocean regions

In Fiscal Year 2017, the Coast Guard received a budget of $15,792,000 which is an increase of 2% from 2016. This increase is due to Budget Control Act of 2015 which increased funding by 1%.
Greenacres is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,845 at the 2010 census. It is part of the St. Petersburg–Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded on September 15, 1892 by J.C. Green and his brothers George and John Laughlin as a citrus grove on land they had bought from the Seminole Tribe of Florida for $1,500 (). The first post office was established in 1893, and the name of the town changed to Greenacres in 1895 because of its location on U.S. Route 20 between Tampa and St Petersburg (). In 1907, a new plant was built to process citrus fruit which resulted in an increase in business for Greenacres (). In 1912, construction began on what is now known as "The Plant", which became one of the largest Citrus Belt factories west of Miami () until it closed in 1957 (). During World War II, Greenacres produced munitions for US military forces (); after hostilities ended in 1945, many of these facilities were mothballed or sold off (), but some remain active today including USF's Department of Food Science & Technology laboratories (). After Hurricane Andrew passed through Clearwater Bay on August 25th 1998(), many small businesses lost their customers due to lack of power; however most returned within a few weeks () . As a result several stores reopened with different hours () . A similar problem occurred when Irma came through late October; however most businesses reopened within 2-3 days () . According to 2000 census data (), there are now over 4 thousand people living inside the limits of Greenacres Township (which has an area larger than Rhode Island) while another thousand or so people live outside its borders *. Of these residents*, six hundred fifty five are employed outside* municipal boundaries*. *This figure does not include any undocumented residents who may reside inside township limits but work without pay
