Fresh roasted coffee first started being sold in Greenacres, Florida in the early 1960s. At that time, it was a small town located about 25 miles northwest of Gainesville. The farmers who grew coffee in this area were among the earliest to light up their cups with fresh-roasted beans. The original roasters who operated in Greenacres were John and Karen Pasternak. They founded Pasternak Coffee Company in 1966, which became one of the most well-known coffee companies in the state of Florida. In addition to selling roasted beans, they also served as importers and distributors for other brands of coffee. The John and Karen Pasternaks are long gone, but their legacy continues to be felt today at Pasternak Coffee Company. Their passion for fresh roasted coffee has been passed down through their children and grandchildren, who continue to roast and distribute quality beans all over central Florida.

Greenacres, Florida is a small town located in Broward County, Florida. The population of Greenacres was 2,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood metro area. The first permanent settler in what is now Greenacres was Abram Jameson who arrived in 1836. Jameson's land included what is now the downtown core of Greenacres and portions of today's Deerfield Beach and Coral Gables neighborhoods. In 1881, William Fenton purchased 640 acres (2 km²) of land from Abram Jameson for $1,000 cash. At that time, it was one of the most valuable parcels of land in Broward County. In 1934 Fenton sold his interest to Harry Averill Pritchett for $5 million dollars which made him one of the richest men in Broward County at that time. Pritchett used his money to build some beautiful homes on his property including "The Oaks", "The Park", "The Manor" and "Greenacre". He also built a golf course on his property which became known as Pritchett Links Golf Course. Today, much of this original infrastructure still remains including a driving range and clubhouse among other features..
