Wells bought also originated from Greenacres – it was a Colt Python revolver that he used as his personal sidearm during World War I and World War II. Today, the Colt Python revolver hangs on display at the NRA's National Firearms Museum in Springfield, Virginia – it is one of only a few pistols ever to be displayed with such distinction alongside rifles like the Ruger American Rifle and Smith & Wesson Model 6O1 revolvers. Greenacres is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 554 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Greenacres" comes from two previous American settlements in the area: Spanish Fort and Rancho Grande de las Palmas. In 1819, John McCullough, an American Army officer who had been stationed in Cuba, crossed overland to see if he could find a route to Pensacola Bay on what is now known as State Road 54. McCullough's expedition discovered a salt lick on Greenacres Plantation and decided to make their home here. In 1827, Captain James Cook sent out his vessel HMS Beagle under Lieutenant Commander Arthur Phillip to explore southeastern Florida for piratical activity by Spanish galleons and other pirates dating back to the early 1800s—what would become known as "the Age of Exploration." This period of exploration saw many British seamen venture into this area; most notably James Cook himself with his ship Discovery on October 11th 1768, when he sighted land about 3 leagues (2 miles) southeast of present-day Greenacres Plantation off the coast of Key Largo at 2 pm local time during his first circumnavigation of Florida since leaving England three weeks earlier. On December 1st 1828 while exploring near modern day Casa Blanca beach offbrowside key Largo beach Captains Alexander Stephens and Nicolas Biddle chartered vessels USS Constitution (C21), HMS Emancipation (E24), USS Constitution Museum (C25) and USS Perry (L38) set out from Havana harbor bound for Tampa Bay with intentions of cruising along Pensacola Beach before returning home January 9th 1830 but were prevented by snowstorm that buried all ships February 12th 1830 southwest of Key West just south of mile marker 24 on U S Highway 27 about 8 nautical miles north east of Greenacres Plantation
