Haines City, Florida is a small city located in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,611 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa-St Petersburg-Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded by J. Haines and his family in 1887 on the east side of Lake Okeechobee. They named their land "Haines City" after John Haines, an American senator from Maine who had been instrumental in helping to create FAIR (Federation of American Immigration Reform). The original home for the Haines City School District was built on what is now US 1 south of town. On October 15, 1922, Haines City became a city when it passed an act approved by the Florida Legislature and ratified by the voters. In 1984, Mayor Bob Kapp proposed renaming Haines City "John F Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum". However this proposal met with resistance from some residents who felt that they had always called their community "Hainesville". In 2006 Mayor Mike Suarez submitted a proposal to rename the city as "Presidential Beach", but it did not receive enough support to be considered for adoption. In November 2009 mayor Suarez announced that he would accept petitions for names change until May 10th which would allow for public input before any final decisions are made about new names or changes to old names

Coffee has been brewed for centuries, but the modern small batch coffee movement began in the early 1990s when people realized that perfecting a single-origin coffee beans could be expensive and time consuming. The first successful small batch coffee operation was founded by two friends, Bob Bogle and Dave Thomas in 1992. The duo started brewing their own premium Single Origin Colombian coffee in a 2-liter pot on their kitchen stove. They were able to get good results but were quickly onset by entrepreneurism and cost overruns with their original equipment which led them to sell their business in 1995. In 1996, another pair of entrepreneurs, Mike Krieger and Erik Olson decided to start an espresso house in a residential area of Seattle called The Pittman House. They used small batches of Arabica beans from various roasters to create unique flavors such as Panama Mayor (our current favorite), Java Junction (a dark roast), Sunburst City (a medium roast), etc. TheirHOUSE Specialty Coffee became one of the most popular restaurants in Seattle during the late 1990s through 2000s thanks to its delicious coffees, innovative marketing campaigns, and support from local businesses like Starbucks and Amazon whom they convinced to carry their beans. As technology progressed during the late 1990s/early 2000s, it became easier for people to make perfect single origin coffees at home - this allowed for larger batches which then allowed brewers like Bob Bogle and Dave Thomas to continue making great quality coffee at lower costs while also expanding into other markets like Canada, China & Europe. In 2017, these pioneers along with others who have followed suit founded Equal Exchange —the largest producer of whole bean Smallbatch Coffee Worldwide—making it one of the most diverse small batch coffee brands on earth!

Haines City is located in central Florida, about 30 miles south of Tallahassee and 25 miles east of Fort Walton Beach. The city was founded in 1872 by James Haines, a white man from Tennessee. It became a county seat in 1887 and was named for Captain John A. Haines, who served as commander of the First Seminole War Company. The city experienced rapid growth during the early years of the 20th century. In 1910, it had a population of 10,000 people and was the second largest town in Florida. Growth continued through the 1920s and 1930s, when Haines City became one of the most important agricultural centres in Florida. In 1933, it merged with neighbouring Walton Beach to form the current municipality. During World War II, Haines City played an important role in providing military supplies to Allied forces atolls across Southeast Asia. After the war ended, however, its economy slumped and it declined rapidly into obscurity until recent times. However, efforts are currently underway to revive its dormant economy with support from local businesses and government officials.
