The Hallandale Beach National Guard has been a vital part of the Florida community for over 60 years. The unit was first activated on December 5, 1944, in response to the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The Guard has played an important role in many military campaigns and disasters during that time, most notably World War II. Today, the Hallandale Beach National Guard is responsible for providing protection and security across Broward County. In addition to its military duties, the Guard also provides a wide variety of services to the community such as peacekeeping missions and domestic security patrols. The history of the National Guard can be traced back to December 5, 1944 when Broward County activated its first unit in response to Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor. At that time, there were only a few hundred soldiers available statewide who could be deployed quickly and effectively against such an overwhelming enemy force. Since then, the Hallandale Beach National Guardsmen have served in countless battles including World War II; Korea; Vietnam; Operation Desert Storm; Hurricane Katrina; and Superstorm Sandy. They have helped protect our citizens and infrastructure from danger both domestically and abroad. There are currently over 6,000 Hallandale BeachNational Guardsmen serving throughout Broward County today. Some of their unique skills include: weapons handling/firearm training; emergency responder certification (including First Responders Training School); infantry tactics (both basic infantry skills plus field artillery training); counterintelligence operations (including exploitation/counterintelligence tasks%); disaster relief (including response to Hurricanes Irma and Maria); public safety (including SWAT team training]; human resources management; counterintelligence support post-9/11 activities; commando training (for special forces operatives)); environmental protection; law enforcement activity including traffic stops or arrests.;[and] humanitarian aid work.[1]

Hallandale Beach is a small town in Broward County, Florida, United States. It was founded on December 17, 1893 by American entrepreneur and citrus grower J. P. Hall and his wife, Lillie Belle Hall. The name comes from the Arabic word "halāndūl" meaning "clear water". The town's population was 12,000 in 2000; it has since grown to more than 30,000 residents. The First All-American Football League (AAFL) team in Hallandale Beach was thehallandale Braves of the AAFL from 1951 to 1955. In 1957, the AAFL merged with the NFL as the National Football League (NFL). In 1972, Hallandale Beach became part of the newly formed Miami Dolphins organization when they were relocated from New York City to South Florida. The city's official nickname until 1978 was "Dolphinsburg." The city annexed unincorporated land east of Biscayne Boulevard in 1984 and renamed it Hallandale Beach Yacht Club Estates after its founders' donation of $4 million for that purpose. In 2002 an ordinance changed the name back to simply "Hallandale Beach". In November 2006 Commissioner Of Fish And Wildlife Manuel Cotto announced that there are plans to open an alligator museum in honor of Mayor Tom Suarez who fought for their protection during his campaign against then-Commissioner Julio Hernandez who wanted them released into circulation without any restraints

It was founded in 1915 by white pioneers who named it after Hallelujah Junction, a now-defunct railway junction near Louisville, Kentucky. The first post office in Hallandale Beach opened in 1916 and remained open until 1951. The town was incorporated on July 1, 1915, as part of Broward County. The name "Hallandale" is derived from the word "hallucination" which means seeing things that are not there (e.g., hallucinations seen during an epileptic seizure). The first postmaster was Mrs. Jennie Ewing and Wm J Dayhoff served as officials for many years before their retirement in 1951. The beachfront towns of Hollywood and Coral Gables were annexed to Hallandale Beach in 1953 and 1954 respectively; however Hollywood's annexation never included much of what is now Hallandale Beach proper since it extended into Collier County beyond the then-town limits
