In 2001, the Coast Guard merged with the Department of Homeland Security to form Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). As a result of this merger, DHS became responsible for all aspects of Gift management for both agencies. The Coast Guard has been in operation in Holly Hill, Florida since 1915. The first Coast Guard station was opened in Holly Hill on January 1, 1915.
Holly Hill is a small town in central Florida that was the site of a battle between the United States and Spanish forces on December 6, 1814. The U.S. victory resulted in the Mexican–American War, and as a result, Mexico ceded Holly Hill to the United States. It was incorporated as a town on January 12, 1835. The first settler in Holly Hill was Lorenzo Hogg, who arrived with his family from Kentucky in 1835. He built the first house in the community and became its first mayor. The town grew rapidly after it incorporation, and by 1840 there were over 100 residents living in Holly Hill. By 1850, however, growth had stopped and only about 30 people lived there still today. The Battle of Holly Hill took place on December 6 of that year when American General James Kilearns led an attack against Spanish forces under Commodore José Antonio Salinas at what is now known as Point Lookout along the Stono River north of present-day HollyHill. The Americans suffered heavy losses including 9 killed or wounded while Salinas' force numbered only about 50 men but managed to drive off the Americans with relative ease according to some sources due to their superior firepower at that time (the location has been called "The Massacre" by supporters of American Independence). Aftermath of Battle: In 1865 The Confederate General Braxton Bragg made his way through Central Florida across Lake Okeechobee looking for fleeing Union troops who had fought at Gettysburg Earlier that year during Reconstruction following The Civil War all white towns chose Jim Crow laws which limited black access to education and employment opportunities while African Americans continued to be treated very poorly overall within society throughout much of America following Reconstruction period until recent times

The Coast Guard has since donated more than 60 ships and boats, including 11 small boats, 20 helicopters and 18 icebreakers. In honor of National Coast Guard Day on May 16th, 2017, we are honoring the coast guard gift history with a retrospective paper on some of the most memorable gifts from our brave men and women in blue. From humble donations like Pompano to more luxurious vessels such as USS Constitution (CGN-68) or HMCS Queen Elizabeth (LHD-1), we have examples of every type of donation made to the Coast Guard over the years! Holly Hill is a small town located in Polk County, Florida, United States. Holly Hill was founded in 1881 by John and Cilla Blackett. The first settler, John Blackett, came from Wales and built the first house in what is now Holly Hill. In 1902, Sallie Mae Blackett started a school in Holly Hill which remains open to this day. The population of Holly Hill grew rapidly during the 1920s and 1930s due to the construction of bridges and highways that connected Polk County with other parts of Florida. By 1940, there were over 1,200 people living in Holly Hill. During World War II, many resources were turned over to the United States military at Holly Hill thanks to its location on Highway 95 just south of Pensacola Bay. At the end of the war, most residents left for various reasons including postwar economic decline and increasing competition from more populated areas in Polk County. However, some residents kept their homes and businesses until the late 1980s when they finally abandoned them for good due to high water levels caused by hurricanes phenomen
Holly Hill was a plantation in the American South. It was located in Polk County, Florida. The plantation was founded by John C. Covington and his wife Maria after they bought it from a group of Seminole Indians in 1823. The first owner of Holly Hill was John Aiken, who died in 1827. After Aiken's death, his son-in-law, James Haddaway, took over the farm. In 1841, Haddaway sold the farm to Drumphon Keyes for $4,000 cash. Keyes changed the name of the plantation to Holly Hill Plantation after he purchase it from Drumphon Keyes.
