The National Guard of Florida was first activated on April 16, 1947. The unit was organized at Ft. Myers, Florida under the command of Major General James M. Hickey and consisted of six companies, three artillery batteries and one cavalry battery. On July 1, 1948 the National Guard in Florida was redesignated the Florida National Guard and its units were reorganized as follows: "Company A" became "CDR 2nd Battalion, 157th Infantry Regiment (Florida)", "Company B" became "CDR 3rd Battalion, 157th Infantry Regiment (Florida)", "Company C" became Headquarters Company, 158th Infantry Regiment (Fla.) " lieu company D", Headquarters Battery 158th Infantry Brigade Artillery changed name to 159th Field Artillery Brigade Artillery on October 1st 1951

The National Guard of Florida was created by Congress in 1907. The original mission of the National Guard was to provide law and order during times of national emergency. In 1922, the Florida Legislature created a state guard force to supplement the Regular Army and Navy. The first unit of the Florida State Guard was organized on November 15, 1922 with men from Miami Beach. The first lieutenant colonel commanding the unit was Major John Hatton who also served as adjutant general for both units. By 1933, there were 2,500 soldiers in the National Guard system in Florida. In 1938, the legislature amended section 10-2 of the Florida Statutes to create a five-member military commission which would be responsible for investigating any abuse or neglect within state forces or any citizens acting on behalf of state forces. This commission became known as the "Naval Investigative Board" or simply "NIB". During World War II, when resources were scarce and recruiting quotas were high, many soldiers joined local militias instead of serving with their military units. As a result, some members of the National Guard never received proper training and became unqualified for service in combat zones such as North Africa and Europe. Additionally, many enlisted menial jobs (such as guarding convoys) were filled by civilians rather than career military personnel. As a result, some units may have been improperly equipped and may not have been able to effectively fight against Axis forces during World War II. An act passed by Congress in 1944 authorized an expansion of National Guard duty into Puerto Rico while still allowing states rights over their militia systems so long as they complied with federal laws governing armament possession and organization within their militias! After World War II ended without significant combat operations taking place on Puerto Rico it reverted back to its traditional status quo! However this did not stop governors from regularly calling for more troops presence on our Noncombatant Territory which continued until 1959 when full militarization began!!

This order allowed for more men and women to be drafted into military service and made it easier for them to join up if needed during wartime hostilities. 1 January 1947- A new armament company was authorized by Congress under Military Code section 5479(a) which designated Companies G (now Company H) and K (now Company J) of Rhode Island's 12th Infantry Regiment as recipients of arms from Headquarters Division Armory District #2 at Providence Naval Yard with a view toward having them placed in permanent storage until disposition according to law or order thereof .

Homestead, Florida is a small town located in Union County, Florida. The population was 1,829 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town of Homestead was founded in 1892 by hispanic American immigrants José and María de la Cruz. The original name for the community was Punta Gorda (Portugal), but it soon became clear that this name would not be accepted by local residents. They decided to change the name to Homestead after a General James Halleck's expedition into what is now Union County in 1836 found no evidence of any such place as Punta Gorda on the Gulf of Mexico. The first inhabitants of Homestead were Spanish-speaking workers who had come overland from Cuba in search of cheap land to grow crops and build homes. By 1907, when the United States acquired Florida from Spain, most of the Cuban workforce had died or been deported back to their homeland. Only a few handful of Cubans remained here permanent while others came and went during periodic waves of Immigration until all but two families left in 1925 due to rising prices for agricultural produce along with competition from more developed areas around Tampa Bay." In 1900, Samuel Jankiewicz bought 640 acres north of present-day Homestead for $2 per acre from Edwin Dillingham Sr., one of Tampa's earliest settlers and founder of Hillsborough County government services company Dillingham & Sons Paper Merchants Assn.. In 1908 Jankiewicz donated an additional parcel totaling 2,048 acres next door which he called "Homespun" because he did not own it himself but leased it from Mrs. Lillie Clementson Macklinan who leased it back to him eventually becoming his wife’s mother-in-law! This property formed what is now known as Macklinan Park." He also donated 400 linear feet (122 m) long by 100 feet wide (30 m) at right angles across Center Street between Third Avenue North and Fourth Avenue South - later known as Soldier Field - naming it MacKinnon Place after himself and his late wife Jessie MacDonald Boucher! In 1912 homesteaders built their first home on a piecemeal basis outbuilding other pioneer households nearby; within five years they had erected 12 homes on about 2 square miles including four blocks east/west gridiron driveways running perpendicular each side bordered by allotments growing sweet potatoes, corn, beans etc... In 1851, the first homestead in Homestead was granted to John S. Wells by Governor Andrew Jackson. The land had been donated by the Well family and was located on the present-day corner of State Road 7 and Orange Avenue. Unfortunately, little changed until 1959 when a major fire destroyed part of the western wing of the old courthouse. In response, Homestead city officials purchased an adjacent piece of property on which to build a new courthouse. Construction began in 1960 and finished in 1964, providing much-needed housing for the town’s growing population.
