The Jacksonville National Guard was activated on November 15, 1907. The first unit to be mobilized was the 126th Infantry Regiment which arrived in Jacksonville from Mobile, Alabama on December 2nd. The regiment took up defensive positions around the city until called back to barracks in early 1908 due to a pandemic that had just begun sweeping across the United States. In 1912, the Jacksonville National Guard detachment (10th Cavalry) was activated and became part of the 2nd Brigade of the Florida Military District. On July 1st, 1916, Jacksonville's volunteer militia detachment (5th Naval Militia) became an organized military brigade with its own command structure and headquarters at Fort Brooke Barracks. On October 15th 1917, following World War I and the end of hostilities in Europe, Jacksonville's reserve militia detachment (9th Naval Militia) also mobilized into federal service as part of Operation Victory renaming it 463rd Infantry Battalion. Between 1918-1920 there were also periods when both battalions were inactive due to peacetime duties such as demobilization or activation for World War II; however both battalions would re-emerge again afterPearl Harbor occurred on December 7th 1941 as part of Army mobilization plans. After Pearl Harbor, all volunteer units in Florida were ordered into federal service under Army control and designation as REGULAR ARMY DIVISION TENNESSES LOCATED IN FLORIDA AGO AND UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITIZENS OF JAXON COUNTY AS PROVIDED BY ACT NO 9 OF 1942). On February 14th 1945 local citizens in anticipation of war declared martial law by Governor Hardee effective immediately suspending all civil rights including freedom of speech and assembly while troops are being mustered into state service under military jurisdiction. This event marked an important turning point for Jaguars who through their involvement in national guard activities had supported their community during wartime while at the same time maintaining their right to free speech and assembly protected by state law

Jacksonville, Florida is a city in Eastern Florida and the county seat of Duval County. The population was 653,724 at the 2010 census. Jacksonville had been an incorporated town since 1835. The first Europeans who set foot in Jacksonville were Spanish explorers in 1565–1566 led by Hernando de Soto. The English established themselves in Jacksonville after invading North America in 1692 as part of King James' War against Spain. In 1701 they founded Fort Moultrie near present-day downtown Jacksonville; it served as an American military post until 1763 when it was abandoned due to British occupation of what is now mainland Southeast Florida following their victory over Spain at Monterrey Bayou expedition that year. After France took control of Louisiana from Spain during the French Revolution (1793–1795), French traders began trading through Jacksonville with Native American tribes because Spanish traders were not authorized to do so under French law In 1800 John Stevens founded one of America's first cotton plantations near present-day downtown Jacksonville Jefferson Davis visited Jacksonville on October 5th 1818 while he was campaigning for president against Andrew Johnson aboard USS " Constitution" On May 14th 1861 Confederate forces attacked Union troops stationed at Fort Donelson outside modern day downtown Jacksonville during United States Civil War On April 12th 1865 Confederate General Robert E Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House northeast of modern day downtown Jacksonville following Confederate Army's defeat at Battle Of Gettysburg

The city of Jacksonville, Florida was founded in 1824 by the brothers John and JamesJackson. The area that is now Jacksonville was part of Indian Country until it was ceded to the United States in 1828. After a fire destroyed much of downtown Jacksonville in 1837, the City fathers decided to build a new capital on the waterfront. The choice of site for this new capital was fortuitous because it had been purchased by Captain James Callender who had been sent to purchase land in what is now Jacksonville from the Seminole tribe. When he arrived, he found that much of his purchase had already been sold off to developers and entrepreneurs. However, Callender persevered and within a year he had regained all of his land which he donated to the city as part of its charter. Although Jacksonville initially struggled economically during its early years, it soon became one of America's most important seaports due to its location at mouth of Riverboat Key and its access to both navigation and trade routes with Spain, England, France and Japan. In 1840, when Union forces invaded Florida during the Mexican-American War, Jacksonville sided with Mexico and participated in skirmishes along the border but ultimately avoided war. In 1850, following annexation by America as a result of the Civil War, Jacksonville became an integral part of newly created Florida statehood. Although many aspects Of Florida's early history remain largely unknown or undocumented due primarily to lack thereof sources available after 1861 – such as tax records or public records from before then – there are several indicators which suggest that Jaguars were very active participants in this developing period: For example, postcards published between 1865-1875 show residents making trips downriver every day carrying goods back upriver; businessmen actively investing money into coastal shipping; construction going on throughout town including two large bridges (the original Causeway Bridge being replaced by today’s bridge in 1903); riverboats regularly running through town; entrepreneurialism apparent not only among citizens but also among businesses; significant population growth over time In 1901–1902 composer Jerome Kern wrote music for an opera based upon American history called "The Bayou Trilogy" set primarily around Jacksonville (Jax) during Reconstruction days following US army occupation Jacksonville experienced another major wavesof population growth following World War II thanks largely to military spendingothat brought about increased manufacturing activity along with thousands more soldiers stationed here During this time many innovative technological advances were made including television broadcasting from ashore using shipboard antennae first demonstrated here beginning 1942 Following V-E Day1945 there continued rapid growth with Overpopulation services being established especially targeting women living near confinement camps run outta state official jurisdiction while men continued working unrestricted at local factories
The Jacksonville, Florida history can be traced back to the early 1800s. The area that is now Jacksonville was first inhabited by the Timucua people. In 1824, the Spanish established a military fort in what is now downtown Jacksonville. The fort was named Fort Moultrie after General James Moultrie, a hero of the American Revolution. In 1835, the United States acquired adjacent land from Spain in what is now Duval County. The U.S. government built a levee to protect water supplies in Jacksonville and other areas around it. This levee helped make Jacksonville one of America's most prosperous cities during its early years. In 1861, when Confederate forces attacked Fort Sumter in Charleston, South Carolina, many residents of Jacksonville sided with the Confederacy and fled their homes. Many of these people returned after Union forces seized control of Charleston and Savannahrespectively. After the Civil War ended, many veterans returned to this city and began rebuilding its infrastructure including roads and bridges. By 1923, Jacksonville had become one of America's most cosmopolitan cities with more than 100 languages spoken hereabouts.
