The Jupiter Naval Auxiliary Base was established in 1942 and has been providing naval support to the Florida Keys community ever since. The base is home to the Jacksonville-based USS George H.W. Bush and its sister ship, USS Abraham Lincoln, both of which are used for training exercises and coastal patrols. In 2008, the navy awarded a $10 million contract to Gulfstream Aerospace to provide new hangar space at JJNAB for their forthcoming Gerald R. Ford class destroyer fleet. With this expansion comes a new era of naval auxiliary activity in Jupiter - one that supports military engagements in the Gulf of Mexico as well as deployments throughout Latin America and Europe.

The USS Jupiter (AG-5) was a destroyer that served in the United States Navy during World War II. She was named for Jupiter, Florida. The USS Jupiter was laid down on 8 November 1944 by the Bath Iron Works of Maine, under Maritime Commission contract (MC hull 21). She was launched on 1 December 1944 and sponsored by Mrs. H.L. Menke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Averill Menke of Jacksonville Beach, Florida; and commissioned on 15 May 1945 with Lieutenant Commander Fenton as her commanding officer. The Jupiter served in the Pacific War as flagship of Destroyer Squadron Seventy-Two until she decommissioned at Pearl Harbor on 5 September 1946 and arrived at Philadelphia on 11 October 1946 for layup in the Bethlehem Steel Company's Shipyard No. 3 where she remained until recommissioned on 30 October 1947 with Captain Cockeye as her commanding officer and voyage to duty in the Far East beginning 1 November 1947
Jupiter, Florida is a town in Monroe County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,851 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The first mention of Jupiter comes from Captain John Smith's journal on July 4, 1607: "I passed by this place called Jupiter which I believe to be the most proper name for it; and though I have no way of knowing it for certain, yet I am sure there are none so great a people as these Indians." In 1881, George Prentice published an article about Jacksonville and its growth in "The Jacksonville Sentinel" . In 1912-1913 (issues 15-16), J.D. Payne wrote an article about life in Jacksonville and its surrounding areas for the "Jacksonville Times". On October 12th 1914 issue of the same paper there was an article on prospects for agriculture in southern Florida that included information about Jupiter including a map with location of farms. The first post office in Jupiter was established on November 1st 1902 and named after Mrs. Gilderoy Jones who donated land to serve as a postal station. The current post office building was built in 1957 adjacent to the old center square which served as the town’s town hall until that structure burned down in 1976. When Hurricane Andrew hit southernFlorida on September 20th 1992 (a category 5 hurricane), much damaging occurred within downtownJacksonville due to flooding caused by heavy rains that followed days later when Pensacola reduced power because of damage done from Hurricane Charley just west of Jacksonville Peninsula.. A major reconstruction project began immediately following Andrew and lasted through 1998 when all but one side of downtownJacksonville were rebuilt following storm damage along with new infrastructure such as streetlights and high rise buildings such asBank One Tower . Just south of downtown Jacksonville lies NASA's Johnson Space Center with additional development planned for this neighborhoods south side since 2002 including mixed use/commercial space located near Autzen Stadium football stadium used by both USF Knights men's soccer team and Jaguars women’s soccer team

Jupiter, Florida is located in the southeastern region of the United States. The population of Jupiter was estimated to be around 20,000 in the early 1900s. Today, Jupiter has a population of over 100,000 and is a city with a rich history that goes back to the 1800s. The first settlers in Jupiter were Dutch farmers who arrived in 1762. They began farming land which they named De Soto after explorer Francisco de Soto. By 1830, there were about 10 farms in Jupiter with a total population of around 60 people. In 1836, two brothers named George and James Cook landed on Jacksonville Beach and founded what would become Jacksonville. They named their new town after George Washington because he had been president at the time. In 1837, an act was passed by Congress that established Fort Donelson as an outpost on the Florida coast to monitor Spanish trade vessels coming from Mexico City. The fort served as a base for operations until it was abandoned in 1865 due to Indian attacks. In 1845, Governor John Crain set out to find a site for what would become Jacksonville on what is now known as Jacksonville Beach Boulevard because he felt that it would be more advantageous if Jacksonville was spread out across multiple ridges so that attack by pirates could be lessened. He selected this spot because it had good soil and provided access to fresh water resources necessary for agriculture development outside of Mobile County (then part of Alabama). The first inhabitants who arrived in Jupiter were white settlers from Maryland and Virginia who came looking for land to purchase during the Landrush Period of America’s history between 1849-1860. These settlers brought with them their livestock, crops and other equipment which contributed significantly to increased agricultural production throughout southern Florida during this time period (Lambert 1948). After finding no suitable sites within his original boundaries, Governor Crain re-routed his exploration party onto Highway 98 which took them through present-day Jacksonville traffic today! Upon reachingJacksonville Beach Boulevard they discovered fresh water available south of downtown due north of where they had initially stopped – making this one of first settlements on our shores! Jupiters growth continued unabated thruout its early years; however sporadic attempts at irrigation ditches resulted only minimal yields sincereek did not reach inland until after 1840 when improvements were made at Mrrtchicken Creek Dam through cooperation between local farmers/ traders and members from Richmond County Virginia theatre
Jupiter, Florida was settled in 1821 by Captain John J. Stroud and his family. The area was known as West Jacksonville until 1828 when it became part of the Seminole Nation. In 1848, the United States acquired the territory from Seminoles and renamed it Florida. The first school in Jupiter was built in 1857, and the first post office was established in 1865. The population of Jupiter increased rapidly during the 19th century because of its location on a key route between Tampa and Jacksonville. However, because of development around Jacksonville, Jupiter slowly lost its status as a major city throughout the 20th century.
