The Coast Guard Gift History in Kissimmee, Florida began with the creation of the Coast Guard Auxiliary on January 1, 1915. The Auxiliary was chartered by the state of Florida to provide financial support for the Coast Guard. The Auxiliary soon became a vital part of the Coast Guard and continues to play an important role today. The first gifts given to members of the Auxiliary were uniforms and equipment. In 1916, $5,000 was raised to purchase new uniforms for all members of the Auxiliary. From 1917-1920, $10,000 was donated to purchase equipment for the Auxiliary. Throughout these years, donations continued to be made from individuals and businesses across Kissimmee and throughout Southwest Florida. In 1921-1922, $15,000 was donated towards purchasing a new station at PortMiami which would become known as Miami Beach Station. This donation allowed for more personnel and equipment to be purchased which helped improve law enforcement efforts along Miami’s coastline. Additionally, this donation also funded a renovation project at Miami Beach Station which included additional building space and an improved beach picnic area. In 1932-1933, another $20,000 was contributed towards purchasing a second station at Fort Myers – which would become known as Marine Corps Base Fort Myers (MCB). This donation allowed for more personnel and equipment to be purchased which helped improve military efforts along Southwest Florida’s coastlines as well as contribute to coastal security initiatives such as patrols on Hilo Bayou in Marathon County FL during World War II. Throughout its history in Kissimmee/SouthwestFlorida.,the Coast Guard Auxiliary has provided countless local residents with valuable items including uniforms and equipment; monetary donations; physical infrastructure such as stations; supplies necessary for policing activities; educational opportunities; and much more!

Kissimmee, Florida is an unincorporated community in Polk County, Florida, United States. It is located on the north side of Lake Okeechobee. The population was 2,469 as of the 2010 census. Kissimmee was named for Simon Kissimmee, a Creek Indian chief who lived near present-day Kissimmee. A post office was established at Kissimmee in 1881, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1903. The town developed around a Baptist church and agricultural center that grew up around the intersection of US 192 and SR 92 (now US 17). At one time there were over 60 businesses operating within the town limits; however most have closed or been replaced by newer businesses since then. The last remaining business still operates as a gas station and convenience store. The town experienced some growth after World War II when many Floridians left for wartime service abroad. Many new residents came to town during this time including soldiers, their families, mechanics and other workers from surrounding communities who helped to rebuild the infrastructure of postwar America. A large shopping mall called "Kissimmee Town Center" opened in 1978 which attracted more than 1 million shoppers each year before it went bankrupt in 1990. In recent years there has been efforts to revitalize the area with various projects such as a new baseball stadium being built next to Interstate 495Exit 174 (renamed "Lakeland Boulevard"). There are also plans to build additional housing developments on or near the existing shopping mall site

As Jacksonville grew more populous and developed its economy, so did Kissimmee which began to attract businesses and workers from other parts of Jacksonville for employer training at what became known as "Kissimmee High School". In 1960, when Jacksonville metropolitan area expanded into Central Florida through annexation of Duval County (including Kissimmee), Kissimmee became an enclave within Central Florida's Orlando Metropolitan Area because it had been designated as the primary business center for both areas. The airport handled only small numbers of passenger operations until 1978 when it opened its own Terminal 1 which now serves as one of Orlando's main international airports. In 1991, after years of discussion between City Hall and management at nearby Walt Disney World Resort about whether or not to merge their economies into a single entity – which would have created a significant financial challenge – City Hall decided against this move because they felt that it would have interfered with their ability to provide quality services to both entities without compromising eitherone'. The Kissimmee Baptist Church was founded in 1892 by Reverend J.M.C. Gaines and his wife, Emma. The earliest baptisms were held at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Gaines’ father, James Mebane Gaines, on Sunday mornings before preaching to a crowd of around 50 people at their home on First Street in downtown Kissimmee. In 1896, the church moved to its current location on South Orange Avenue near Dale Road in order to more easily accommodate growth in the area. Reverend J.M.C. Gaines served as the church’s first pastor until his death in 1928; thereafter, the role of pastor was filled by various ministers until 1962 when Dr.-Jared Hinton became pastor emeritus effective July 1st and served until his retirement on September 30th of that year which ended with Pastor Hinton’s death November 5th from natural causes at age 89 years old). In 1966, when Dr.-Jared Hinton became pastor emeritus effective July 1st, he also took over for Dr.-Hilton as head coach for Florida State University’s men’s basketball team (later renamed the Seminoles) who were then playing their first seasonsince joining The ACC (the Atlantic Coast Conference). As head coach for Florida State University’s men’s basketball team (later renamed the Seminoles), Dr.-Jared Hinton helped lead FSU to an NCAA Championship game appearance in 1974 against UCLA Bruins where they lost 92-72 becoming only the third university ever to do so (following Alabama Crimson Tide and Clemson Tigers). He also led FSU to back-to-back ACC Championships in 1981-82 where they defeated Duke Blue Devils 78-64 while Clemson won 82-65 behind center Rick Majerus who would later become College Basketball Hall of Fame inductee and part owner of both FSU and Miami Heat NBA franchise). In 1984 he was named Coach of The Year by USA Today following a then school record 111 victories including 38 wins over top 25 opponents during his tenure which is still a school record today (this title would be later taken away from him due to academic scandal involving former assistant coaches Jeff Tuttle & Ed OBrien). He retired after compiling a 246–107 (.724) record as head coach with an overall winning percentage of .853 – making him oneof just six active collegiate coaches with an undefeated or winning percentage over .800 (.853 or better) entering their final season(the others being Bear Bryant (#6 nationally postseason poll ‘86), Phil Jackson (#2USA Today preseason poll ‘87), Lloyd Carr (#1 Final Four ‘89), Don Shula (#12 national preseason poll ‘91) Dr.-Jared Hinton is currently enshrined into college basketball hallowed ground alongside some other legends such as Bob Cousy ( Wooden Award Winner 1951 ), Magic Johnson (#3 all time scoring leader 1980 ), Jack Ramsay (#5 all time leading scorer Holy Cross 1942 ), Wilt Chamberlain #1 draft pick 1965 )
