The Coast Guard has been in the Lady Lake area for over a hundred years. In 1887, Captain James L. Whaley of the Coast Guard Station at Lady Lake organized a search for lost sailors on the Gulf of Mexico. The first Coast Guard station was built onshore in 1896 and it was called the “Lighthouse” because it manned the original lighthouse at Lady Lake. In 1912, new stations were built at Fort Myers and Naples, Florida. The first cutter service was started in 1932 with the purchase of a converted tugboat, “Galveston” from American Marine Corporation. In 1960, Rear Admiral John Kappenauer became head of Region 4 and ordered that all coast guard activities be centralized under one roof at Miami Beach. In 1969, President Richard Nixon designated LadyLake as an emergency landing zone for troops sent to South Vietnam during Operation Rolling Thunder. The Coast Guard responded with Operation Neptune’s Spear which involved deploying more than 2,000 personnel to help protect U.S citizens and property from pirate attacks off the coast of South Vietnam. Since then, there have been many changes associated with our coast guard mission including responding to natural disasters such as Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Harvey; helping citizens stay safe online through their local port security; and assisting law enforcement when needed across America's shores!

Lady Lake is a small town in Broward County, Florida, United States. It is the northernmost incorporated municipality in the county and borders Palm Beach Gardens to the east and Westchester County to the north. The population was 10,612 at the 2010 census. The first settlement in what is now Lady Lake was made by European settlers on May 12, 1845 when a group of men from Stonington, Connecticut built a cabin on property that is now part of Trinity Episcopal Church. In 1847, two brothers named George Washington Smith founded an agricultural company in what is today LadyLake which became one of the most powerful cotton farming companies in Florida during the late 19th century. In 1892, Mrs. Lula Akins purchased land adjoining Trinity Episcopal Church for $2,000 and began developing it into what are now known as North Park Mall and North Park Village. She renamed it LadyLake after her home state of Louisiana (her parents were born there). After Mrs. Akins' death in 1915 her husband Harry bought her share in the mall/village complex for $5 million and continued development until his death in 1966; thereby resulting in its continuing use as a shopping center today. In 1929 local resident Hetty Elizabeth Ketchum started purchasing land adjacent to Trinity Episcopal Church for future development into what are now known as South Park Mall and South Park Village; naming it after her hometown of Tampa (she was from Clearwater). After she died suddenly in 1951 her husband Don leased part of their estate to The Methodist Episcopal Church which continues to operate it as an Evangelical church today - making it one of only two commercial properties within walking distance of downtown LadyLake! As more people moved into LadyLake over time they started bringing their businesses with them - beginning with grocery store Jell-O Enterprises which opened its doors on December 1st 1971! Other early businesses that operated here include: Dutch Bros., Pizza Hut, Masterpiece Carpet & Flooring Warehouse (now Home Depot), Dairy Queen (now Terry's) and Burger King! Since then various other restaurants have opened up shop Downtown including several Japanese restaurants (Yamato-Yori), Starbucks Coffee & Pasta House (now Dunkin' Donuts), Chick-fil-A & Waffle House(now Grumpy Cat Pancake House), Beacheside Bistro & Grill(now Red Lobster) as well as numerous retail stores such as Sears pushed out by new developers who desired larger lots within walking distance of their properties! Today Downtown has become one of Broward County's most popular tourist destinations due to its eclectic mix of architecture, shopping options and easy access to all that Broward County has to offer!

The first Coast Guard unit was organized on December 4, 1790 and was known as the "Fenway Light Infantry." This unit patrolled the Boston Harbor and was responsible for keeping navigation safe for ships and vessels. The present day Coast Guard has a rich gift history dating back to its very beginning. One of the earliest gifts given by the Coast Guard was a flagstaff. This staff, whichisted from an American Revolutionary War ship, arrived at New York City in 1795. Upon its arrival, it became the property of Rear Admiral John Graves Simcoe and his wife Hannah Livingston Simcoe. They placed it in front of their home on West 31st Street in New York City. It remained there until 1824 when it was donated to the United States Navy by Mrs. Simcoe along with other naval artifacts. Another important gift from the Coast Guard is maritime technology such as radios, navigational equipment, and charts. These items were distributed throughout law enforcement agencies across America during World War II in order to help prevent Suspicious Activity around Ships (SAS). Many of these devices still remain valuable collector’s items today! Finally, one of the most significant gifts given to members of the Coast Guard has been uniforms! Uniforms are an important part of any member's wardrobe and symbolsize service within our country's military forces- especially those who protect us coast-to-coast! Over time, different specialties within our force have received unique uniforms including cryptographers/communications officers (CNOs), rule breakers/pirates (RPB’s), lifeguards/swimmers (LGW’s), submariners/submarine divers (SD’s), soldiers/soldiers (SG’s), firefighters/firefighters (FF)…the list goes on! There is no doubt that uniform donations have helped contribute greatly to our coast guard community over time!

Lady Lake is located in Polk County, Florida. The name means "lower lake" in the Creek language. It was formed by damming a stream that emptied into the Gulf of Mexico. In 1851, the United States acquired title to much of what is now Polk County from Spain as part of the Treaty of Paris following the Mexican-American War. In 1875, Lady Lake was made a county seat and became known for its green lawns and rolling hills. A post office was established at Lady Lake in 1881, and remained in operation until it closed in 1927. Today, Lady Lake features an amusement park, golf courses, and businesses such as a grocery store and restaurant.
