Grant Boulevard and I-4 motorway north of town limits and south ofResearch Parkway east of Research Parkway to create what would become one of Florida's major agricultural communities; however during prohibition times this area changed hands several times as people sold or used alcohol to get around state Alcoholic Beverage Control laws which forbid sales to anyone under 21 years old at the time In 1944 all non manufacturing businesses within city limits were closed down due to World War II rationing but many continue up through today such as KFC where they have a store on Research Parkway across from State Fair Park On October 5th 1961 Lakeland voters passed an ordinance creating two new school districts with the first students enrolling in Pinellas High School District #1 on January 1st 1962 followed by Palm Harbor High School District #2 later renamed Jupiter Highlands High School District #3 . On December 15th 1971 both districts merged forming Jupiter-Hillsborough Schools district including Lakeland becoming its second largest school district after Palm Harbor
