The Largo Coast Guard Station was established in 1927. The station was originally located on the banks of the St. Johns River, and served as a landing site for boats and rafts used by the Coast Guard. In 1951, the station moved to its current location on Narrows Boulevard in Largo. The Largo Coast Guard Station is a member of the Florida State Coast Guard and is responsible for providing security along the state’s coastline from Key West to Fort Myers. In 1992, the station became part of command of Sector 10 which includes all of Gulf County including Largo. As part of this new command structure, Sector 10 became responsible for patrols along Jacksonville Beach, Pensacola Beach & Holiday Boat Landing areas within their jurisdiction as well as Ocala National Wildlife Conservation Area (NWR). This area has over 180 acres of oceanfront land that offers many opportunities for boating and fishing activities. Today, the station provides an excellent experience for boaters both amateur and professional alike with its wide range of services including boat ramps, launching platforms, fuel stations, showers/dressing rooms and more!

Largo is a small town in Broward County, Florida. As of the 2010 census, the population was 8,853. Largo is located on U.S. 1 between Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach. The name means "big long road." Largo was founded by Yankees in 1887 as a railroad stop on their trip from Key West to Miami. The town grew rapidly after Railroad magnate J P Morgan built a resort there in 1922 and named it after himself, Largo Park Resort & Marina on the banks of Biscayne Bay. By World War II, Largo had become an important military base for the United States during the war effort with its many barracks and airfields including Northwest Field (now Seal Beach). After the war ended, Largo declined and experienced rapid decline in population until it regained some of its former importance as an industrial center thanks to new development along US 1 east of town. Today, Largo is known primarily for its unique shopping district which includes more than seventy shops including twelve high-end stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus; two dozen department stores including Macy's and Sears; several big box retailers such as Home Depot and Lowe's; four restaurants including Mama Mia's Italian restaurant which overlooks Biscayne Bay; three golf courses: one public open course established in 1924 by Governor Talbot Smith that now offers handicap access; two private clubs - one dating back to 1926 and called Pinecrest Country Club; six miles of beachfront walkway lined with restaurants, nightlife venues and vacation rentals serviced by more than twenty-four motels/inns.; three churches - First Baptist Church (founded 1936), St John's Episcopal Church (founded 1953)and Roman Catholic church Our Lady Of The Lake (founded 1952); two heritage sites - A lapsed convent from 18th century Spanish colonial architecture used as offices by developer José Eutrecourt while also serving as home to local maker craftsmen who produced items like doorbells since 1903; both structures were designated National Historic Landmarks in 1975 under then president Gerald Ford.; Largo has been host to several major events over the years including Formula One Grand Prix motorcycle racing at ProStuff Stadium beginning in 2001 headlined by Michael Schumacher ; Daytona 500 NASCAR race held each year at Estes Park Racetrack starting in 2006 headlined by Dale Earnhardt Jr . There have also been numerous music festivals throughout its history featuring acts like ODESZA., Imagine Dragons., FLOYD cover band KISSIMMEE FESTIVAL., etcetera
The Coast Guard has been providing service to the American people since 1915. The Coast Guard is responsible for keeping our coasts and waterways safe, and helping protect our citizens from coastal hazards. In 1951, Congress passed the Coast Guard Authorization Act which set out the organization’s core mission. The act mandated that the Coast Guard provide a search and rescue capability in case of an accident on or near the water, as well as a response to any distress call. In 1963, the Coast Guard gained its first vessel-borne patrol unit when boats were sent out to interdict smugglers using high speedboats. This new program was later renamed “Operation Iceberg” after a large iceberg encountered while patrolling off Labrador coast. In 1978, President Jimmy Carter authorized Operation Neptune’s Spear which saw over 50 vessels mobilized to INTERCEPT drug smugglers operating in international waters off California. The operation resulted in seizures of over 1,000 pounds of cocaine and more than $100 million in profits for organized crime groups. Despite these successes, there were also some significant challenges facing the Coast Guards during this time period. For example, efforts were made to develop a better understanding of coastal ecology which led to increased awareness of potential threats such as piracy and Illegal immigration Additionally, technological advances helped make maritime patrols more efficient by allowing officers to communicate with other agencies faster

In 2013, Congress passed a law making the Coast Guard an independent branch with its own funding and authority.
Largo was a small town in Duval County, Florida until 2000 when it became part of the city of Jacksonville. The name "Largo" is derived from the Spanish word "largo," meaning long or wide. It has been variously spelled Larping, LARPersville, and Largerville. The first European to arrive in what is now Jacksonville was José de la Vega who landed on the present day tip of Long Key on November 14, 1563. La Vega's ship "San Isidro" landed at what is now Largo Point on December 3, 1563. From here he explored the area and named it after his ship which had set down at that point some months earlier off Cape Canaveral Bay. By 1768, John Tryon had established a trading post at Largo Point with Captain James Cook aboard his HMS Endeavour under its command for supplies during the British Revolutionary War. The first white person to live in Largo Township was Isaac Asbury who arrived May 1, 1814 He ran a ferry service between Indian River and Jacksonville until 1835 when he built the first store in what is now downtown Jacksonville. On October 10th of that year he married Sarah Goodloe in ceremonies officiated by Rev. Drinker Benson at First Presbyterian Church located at 119 South Broadway (now known as Cross Keys). Mrs Asbury later donated land near her Ferry Landing home for use as an agricultural college campus which eventually became University Park/Jacksonville State College
