Lauderhill, Florida is a small town in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 21,391 at the 2010 census. Lauderhill is the largest city in Miami-Dade County and second-largest city in Broward County after Fort Lauderdale. It is also the most populous municipality within Miami-Dade and Broward counties combined. The first Europeans to enter what is now Lauderhill were French traders who established a trading post there in 1699. In 1795, Spanish traders founded a mission here. A road from Havana to Fort Lauderdale was built through Lauderhill in 1825 by General Manuel de la Vega y Arellano as part of his effort to connect the two military posts on the southern coast of Cuba with Tampa Bay. Spanish influence waned after Cuba gained its independence from Spain in 1898; however, Cuban Americans continued to make their presence known throughout much of this period via their businesses within Lauderhill and other parts of Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. In 1907, developers began building luxury homes around what would become known as "The Strip". This area now includes much of downtown Lauderhill along with several shopping centers and office buildings including One World Trade Center (the site of today's World Trade Center). The original strip district became unprofitable due to competition from more suburban development which occurred primarily northward along I-10 and Interstate 95 near South Beach Boulevard; however, it continued to be home to many upscale shops until shortly before its demolition for residential redevelopment in the early 2000s which left many storefronts vacant or boarded up consenting owners without any recourse other than fileering or squatting until they are finally demolished by owner/builders themselves - often resulting in long rows of empty storefronts flankng high-rise apartment buildings that canorama over wide open spaces devoid of anything except skyrocketing prices for one vast residential neighborhood that once served as an anchor commercial district for both Downtown Miami and Downtown Ft Lauderdale - but has all but disappeared since then thanks largely to new development occurring adjacent thereto on streets such as Dadeland Drive between SW 3rd Street Bridge Road (just south of Intersection Of NW 8th Ave) And NE 15th Avenue where Allstate Arena currently stands

Lauderhill is a city located in southeast Miami-Dade County, Florida, on the Gulf of Mexico. The population was 73,522 at the 2010 census. Lauderhill is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in America and has been home to white American pioneers as well as African Americans and Hispanics since its incorporation into Miami-Dade County in 1957. In 1964, it became the first city in Miami-Dade County to be elected to full City Council status. The current Mayor is Carlos Gimenez with a two year term expiring on December 31st, 2020. It is also home to several private schools including: Loyola Marymount University (a Catholic university), Dillard University (a black college), and Stetson University (a private school). Lauderhill was founded by businessman Julius Coker and his wife Anna Coulter Coker on November 3, 1907 as "Coker's Bay" after they purchased 11 acres of land from Juana Calderón de la Vega y Ocampo for $1,000 (). From 1907 until 1909 the land was used for cattle grazing and farming before becoming subdivided into three lots which were sold off over time. On May 18th 1910 Lauderdale's first election took place following annexation of part of Doral by Miami-Dade County; Lauderdale won reelection unopposed. In 1914 Lauderhill merged with neighboring Plantation Heights which at that time had a population of 1008 people while Plantation Heights' only other neighbor was Jupiter Creek which separated them from Biscayne Boulevard. By 1920 both neighborhoods had shrunken to their present sizes with only about 150 residents combined in both areas; however whenbrowse through official city records it appears that Lauderdale & Plantation Heights did have some form of communication between themselves even though their boundaries remain mysterious today. On December 5th 1924 – just days after Hurricane Orville struck Hardee’s Island – Lauderhill voters passed an ordinance legalizing liquor sales within city limits alongwith establishing an excise tax on distilled spirits totaling $2 per bottle/bag (+$0 per bottle/can until 1941). At this time hard liquor sales were still illegal under state law but business owners quickly adapted by selling hard liquor out through window sills or even driving carts around town selling whiskey door-to-door (). This new system worked quite well for a few years until 1933 when Prohibition came into effect across America – making alcohol strictly illegal once again across all 50 states (). This left Broward County without any officially licensed distilleries so illicitStill wine&spirits started flowing freely unchecked throughout much of SouthFlorida (& especially Miami) while authorities looked on helplessly
