The company continued to grow and purchased a warehouse in Sunrise Beach in 1951. At its peak, Fort Lauderdale Coffee Corporation sales reached $2 million a year. It ceased operations in 1983 after being acquired by Pabst Brewing Co..

The first settlers in Lauderdale were Huguenot refugees who had fled persecution in France during the 16th century. They arrived in 1763 as part of British North America's conquest of Haiti and settled along what became known as State Road 1A near present-day Cutler Road/South Boulevard in what is now Lauderhill. In 1892 A J Lauder purchased land from Major General James Wilkinson for $1M which included what are now Parkland Drive/Westchester Boulevard, Cutler Road/South Boulevard and parts of Broward County today
