The Leesburg Army Garrison was established in 1892 and is one of the oldest military installations in Florida. The garrison is responsible for providing security for the city and its citizens, as well as conducting research and training exercises. The garrison has a variety of products and services that are available to the community, such as clothing, vehicle maintenance, gunsmithing, barracks construction and more. In 1909, the Leesburg Garrison became an independent battalion within the Florida National Guard. In 1917, following World War I, Congress enacted legislation calling for a volunteer reserve corps in Florida. The regiment was organized on November 1st and designated Company E of Battalion 13th Infantry Regiment (Florida National Guard) under Colonel John H. Murdock. On January 2nd 1918 Captain Harry Swayne assumed command of Company E from Colonel Murdock. At this time Company E consisted of three detachments: A detachment at Fort Myers; B detachment at Jacksonville; C detachment at St Petersburg). On December 21st 1918 Captain Swayne was promoted to lieutenant colonel and assumed command of all Company E troops while still attached to Battalion 13th Infantry Regiment (Florida National Guard) with Headquarters at Fort Myers. Lieutenant Colonel Swayne resigned his commission on June 30th 1919 due to health reasons after years service with distinction in World War I. After Lieutenant Colonel Swayne's resignation Company E continued operations under command of Second Lieutenant Clarence Wessels until it was merged into Battery D (1/2 inch howitzer) on September 1st 1920 when Battery D became part of 25th Infantry Division which then become part of United States Marines during World War II By 1945 all active batteries had been disbanded except those that served with Marine Forces during World War II which formed Battery A-1-4 within 24th Infantry Division (Marine Corps). Today there are no active units stationed in Leesburg garrison but there is still a large amount of memorabilia housed here including uniforms worn by members during various wars dating back to 1892 through 1945

Leesburg is a town in southwest Florida, United States. The population was 7,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Palm Beach County Metropolitan Statistical Area. Leesburg was founded in 1835 by Captain George Washington Lees and his wife Anna Maria Hill. Captain Lees named it for himself and Anna Maria's brother, Lewis Carroll (1804-1872), who lived in Boston but visitied frequently to Leesburg during the 1830s when he attended Bowdoin College. Captain Leesville was located on the opposite side of this creek from where present-day Leesburg stands. He built a small log cabin here about 1835 which became known as "The White House." There were several other early settlements in what is now Leesville before Captains Washington and John Hays built Fort Haysborough on an abandoned Indian trading post near present day Coral Gables in 1837 as part of their counterattack against Seminole Indians led by Chief Osceola. In 1840, after news arrived that General Andrew Jackson had been elected Ulysses S. Grant's Vice President, many residents decided to move away from Pensacola due to religious persecution under Jackson's rule and emigration began to Leesville; among these original settlers were Reverend James PINCUS (died 1865) who organized First Baptist Church South Duval Parish (now Miami-Dade County) in 1841 After Commodore James Stockett's purchase of Tampa Bay from Spain in 1898, most of what today makes up Palm Beach County moved into Pinellas Park – including much of what is now Lee Communities – so what remained of La Jolla became largely a result of annexation by Pinellas Park following the countywide referendum held on November 3, 1959 which approved separation from Dania Beach County based on political considerations rather than economic ones In 1932 local developer Harry Byrd started construction on Interstate 95 south through La Jolla proper with plans for a auto plant and other development that never got off the ground because World War II intervened; instead, he developed Pleasure Island casino which continues to be one of Broward County’s largest employers today

Leesburg is a small town in Florida, located on the banks of the Kissimmee River. The town was founded in 1836 by John C. Lee and his family after they drove out of Mobile, Alabama for fear of yellow fever. The name “Lee” comes from a Creek word meaning “chiefs” or “leaders.” The first white settler in Leesburg was James A. White, who arrived in 1837. White owned land around what is now downtown Leesburg and built a cabin near the riverbank. He married Mary Fenton and had two children, James A., Jr., and Anna L., who both died at young ages during the Seminole Wars. In 1840, John C. Lee moved to Leesburg from Mobile with his family and started a grocery store on Main Street. In 1844, he bought 4 acres (1 hectare) along Duckworth Road from William Henthorn for $10 dollars cash! Today, this property houses the Leesburg Municipal Building as well as several businesses including Piggly Wiggly hamburgers, Papa John's Pizza & Subs, Chick-fil-A restaurant and Dollar General Store – all part of the current downtown area! During World War II (1939-1945), many local citizens served in the military including George Snider who enlisted in 1942 as an electrician; Melvin Brown who served three years as a truck driver; Donnie Ferguson who served five years as an airman; Leroy Wallace who was drafted into service but never left until he became ill overseas; Harry Preusser Sr.; Willy Weisenthal; Josephine Weisenthal (the mother ofWeisenthal); Mrs. Harry Preusser Jr.; father Harry Preusser Sr.; brothers Joe Preusse (Joe Post), Billie Preusse (Billie Pritzker) and Norman Weisenthal (Norman Perlmutter). It is also notable that many prominent residents such as author Truman Capote lived or worked here during their formative years – notably Richard Nixon’s childhood home at 7605 Cross Keys Boulevard which he later purchased and turned into Chappaqua Manor while living nearby in Woodbridge Township! After World War II ended with Japan's surrender on September 2 1945, most Americans returned to their homes across America but some decided to stay behind to help rebuild postwar societies throughout Asia . In 1828, the town of Leesburg was founded on the present-day site of South County Regional Library. In 1835, a post office was established in Leesburg and remains in operation to this day. The first school in Leesburg was built in1836. It is now known as Eastern High School. In 1877, a new courthouse was built and served as the seat of government for both South County and Lee County until 1966 when theLee County Courthouse Annex became operational. The town of Leesburg grew rapidly due to its proximity to Tampa and its access to major highways. In 1907, the Florida Railroad reachedLeesburg and made it easier for people to get around by providing transportation options. The annexation of Lee County by South County in 1922 made it possible for Leesburg to become an official city with its own police department and mayor. Leesburg is home to many notable institutions including Eastern High School (now known as South County Regional Library), Pinecrest Hospital, Hillsborough Community College, USF Bulls football team, USF Gators football team, Stonington Catholic Church and many more small businesses/locations
