Longwood, Florida is a small town located in Polk County, Florida. It was founded in 1892 by Dr. J.B. Long and his family. The population of Longwood was 1,500 people at the time of its incorporation. The town has since grown to over 5,000 residents and it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the state ofFlorida. In addition to its natural attractions such as Lake Worth and Clearwater Beach, Longwood also offers a variety of cultural experiences including art galleries, music festivals, and antique stores. The history ofLongwood can be traced back to 1892 when Dr. J.B. Long and his family decided to settle in Polk County after moving from Virginia Beach, Virginia on account of the heat thereabouts (the temperature then being around 100 degrees Fahrenheit). At that time the area that would eventually become Longwood was still part of Indian Territory which was ceded to America following the end of the American Civil War because no new states were formed from it – meaning that all land east of Havana were placed under US jurisdiction for military purposes only! Consequently, much of what is now Polk County was originally Native American territory making it an ideal spot for farming and ranching operations given its close proximity to water resources (/the Everglades). Dr. J.B Long's Son-in-Law John Witherspoon joined him on this venture - founding what would become known as Witherspoon's grocery store in 1896 (later becoming part of Price Choppers chain). By 1912 however things had started to take off for Drs Long & Witherspoon with their colony having by then reached 2,500 residents! This rapid growth led to some serious problems though - Namely they couldn't keep up with demand for food services! As a result they opened up another grocery store but this one situated right next door to Witherspoon's original business - creating what would come to be known as "The Big Store". From here things began really picking up for both businesses with steady growth thereafter unabated! In 1927 however term limits finally forced Drs Long & Witherspoon out onto their own soil once again resulting in their Colony reaching 4,000 inhabitants by 1933 (!), although due largely(but not exclusively)to immigration / emigration directly related thereto!! With so many newcomers coming through town during those days things quickly got out Of hand leading (amongst others)to WW2 whereuponupon average daily population stood at just shyof 6200 souls during WWII !! However Population size rapidly decreased post-WWII onwards due mainly(but not exclusively)to various factors such as: 1) loss/exile Of personnel associated with local industry during Korean War; 2) residential developments expanding into formerly agricultural areas; 3) increased access To healthcare etc.; 4) increasing joblessness etc.). Today longwood boasts an estimated population OF 11700+ making it oneOf Florida’s most populous towns!!!

Longwood is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,571 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa-St Petersburg-Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Longwood was James Keyes, who arrived in 1836. He and his family were the first white people to live in the town site that would later become Longwood. In 1868, John Aiken founded what is now Timucua Technical College on land he had purchased from Keyes. In 1915, Longwood became a city. The city charter was amended to allow for an open-air market on Sundays and holidays during the summer months; this market operated until 1957 when it was closed due to development pressure from nearby St Petersburg. In 1961, Longwood annexed Plantation Heights which included parts of west Polk County including Plantation Hills and Belleview Gardens neighborhoods as well as much of east Polk County including Mayport and Dunedin and portions of west Pasco County including Clearwater Beach village (now Pinellas Park). A new library building project began in early 1960s with funds provided by entrepreneur Milton Burtch; construction continued through 1966 but finished behind schedule due to financial difficulties caused by dramatic changes within American society following World War II which hit Florida particularly hard. The original library building— located on Clearwater Boulevard between First Street and US 301—wasized only at one end with circulation reaching only 814 books per month; its east wing (later completed) served as an educational annex for many years before being demolished in 1990 amidst controversy over its poor condition which led to plans to replace it with a more modern facility while preserving some century-old features such as bell towers and arches.
