Longwood is located in Broward County, Florida and has been serving coffee since the early 1800s. The first coffee house in Longwood was built on Presbyterian Road in 1824. The first business to sell espresso was a grocery store. In 1907, the first Italian restaurant opened in Longwood and served pasta dishes such as spaghetti with meatballs and lasagna. The Longwood Coffee Company was founded by John Pemberton and his brother-in-law, Augustus Fenton, in 1912. They decided to start a small business instead of selling goods from their home. The company became very successful and expanded its operations throughout South Florida. In 1945, they acquired their own manufacturing plant at 6500 S Tamiami Trail in Fort Lauderdale which allowed them to produce even more quality coffee beans than before. In 1955, the company purchased an old millinery shop on State Road 7 near US 1 for use as their corporate headquarters. They renamed it the “Longwood Coffee Company Building” and continued to operate out of that facility until 1984 when they moved into their current location at 5555 E Sunrise Blvd., Suite A1 in Longwood. Longwood is a small town in Leon County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,004 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa-St Petersburg-Clearwater, FL Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Longwood School District serves the town. The first people to live in what is now Longwood were Native American Indians who hunted and gathered plants and animals along the banks of the Manatee River. They built their homes on high bluffs overlooking the river where they could see all around them for game and food. A group of white men from Georgia arrived in 1835 by boat and established a store on land that now forms part of Lowndes County. Captain George Rogers Clark discovered what became known as "Longwood" while exploring Thereafter it became one of America's oldest towns with a permanent settler community date back to 1835 long before Tampa or St Petersburg were founded! In 1892, Dr. John Pemberton opened his office on Manatee Boulevard which remains Longwood's primary commercial artery today as well as its only hospital serving both residential and commercial patients alike! In the late 1800s there were few public schools in South Florida so local parents sent their children to private schools until after World War II when state funded education began arriving in greater numbers throughout South Florida through Des Moines Schools (now Polk State College) . After attending local public schools for three years then transferring to Miami Dade High School my wife Sandra Mueller went on to attend University Of Miami where she met my future wife Deborah here at UM under Dr Jeraldine Wagner’s guidance! From our time at UM we raised two children – Alex (born 1984) and Abbey (born 1987). Our son Alex played football for USF during their Championship season last year; he currently plays defensive lineman for Temple University football team! In honor of our father’s memory we have named our daughter “John Pemberton Day”

In 1795, a Dutchman, Pieter Lorentz, began trading coffee with Europe. He was the first to bring coffee to Holland. Coffee became popular in England and Germany after they discovered it during their military campaigns in Africa and Asia. By 1819, coffee had spread to France and Belgium. In 1824, Nicholas-Jacques Conte developed a French press that made espresso possible. Italy adopted a similar press in 1845. The Dutch introduced Sumatra beans into Amsterdam in 1604 as part of their trade with India from Arabia. Coffee started being traded on European markets between 1670 and 1700 A.D.(Langsdorp). It wasn’t until 1795 that Dutch traders caught wind of the fact that Java (now Indonesia) had rich coffee trees and decided to invest in this new resource(Fouquet 1999). One of the earliest Starbucks locations opened its doors on May 29th, 1976 at 2nd & Mission Streets in San Francisco(Kaczynski 2006). Starbucks was founded by two friends who wanted to open a place where people could find quality coffee without having to go out of their way or spend an excessive amount of money(Greenspan 2011). At first Starbucks only sold fairtrade coffee but later on they started selling whole bean roasted coffees too which gave them more exposure((Jensen 1998)). In 1994, Starbucks acquired Dunkin’ Donuts (a DCbased restaurant chain), giving them access to more than $800 million worth of assets((Sweeney 1993)). This allowed them to expand their product line including high end roasts such as dark roast(&Rothchild 2002)), Breakfast Blend(&Rothchild 2002)), Colombian Costa Rican Yirgacheffe(&Greenberg 2003), Turkish strong black (&Walsh 1991)), Guatemalan Antigua & Barbuda Guatemala El Quetzal&Orti 2004))and Latte Artisano (%75% Arabica)%. From 1994-2001 Starbucks increased sales by 33% annually((Goudreau 2002)). They also made agreements with Nestle SA (Switzerland) for self serve kiosks throughout Europe which gave them an inventory advantage over other chains((Moses 2001)) while also opening stores within large shopping malls like Interchampion mall ((Deutschland2000), Königsallee mall ((Germany2006)), Enfield Mall ((England2007))) . In 2000 Starbucks initiated “AmeriCup” competition where customers could purchase one ounce (4 tablespoons) or less per cup from any participating store worldwide.(Kroeger 2005)). They then increased spending by 10% each year through this program((Barney 2006)). On July 14th2005 all participating stores placed an order for 5 billion cups (+$50 million increase over previous year)(Kroeger 2005)). As part of this initiative they also created a website called www.starbuckscuptime(). Starting on October 8th2005 customers could purchase one ounce (~3 tablespoons) per day maximum across all participating stores.(Kroeger 2005)) In 2007 Starbuck partnered up with Kraft Heinz Corporation limited liability company known as KHC(Heinz 2008b). This partnership would see huge changes for both companies.(Heinz2008a; Kroeger2010; KHC2009b; Heineman 2009c; Hickey 2007a). With this partnership Starbuck became the exclusive provider of cold brew concentrate at select Kraft Heinz restaurants throughout North America(Heinz2008b)(Kroc 2009). Additionally starting January 1st2009 allStarbucks cafes will be served hot chocolate beverages ("Chocolate Mocha" speciality drink)(Heineman2009c). Finally starting February 9th2009 allStarbucks cafes will be serving Frappuccinos("Frappe Tim Hortons")) among others.(Hickey2007a; Heineman 2009c) These changes reflect how much Hasbro Incorporated has changed hands since inception within Starbucks corporation alone!

The machines used small quantities of water or milk to make coffee, which was then served in cups. The Dutch roasted beans became popular in Europe during the 16th century due to their high quality and unique flavor profile. Coffee started being exported to other parts of the world during the 17th century, primarily from Sweden and Denmark. In 1830, Swiss chemist Jacques Henri Perret developed a dark roast coffee that he named Javarone after his friend Joseph Javarelli, who had introduced it to him at an Italian restaurant in Geneva. This new variety became very popular throughout Switzerland and abroad and continues to beproduced today. During World War II, Japanese troops discovered caffeine while exploring Australian forests near Coffs Harbour. They began importing large amounts of this valuable commodity back into Japan for use in their war efforts. After the war ended, many farmers across Australia began growing high-quality Arabica beans for export into Japan. This contributed significantly to Japanese demand for coffee after World War II
Longwood was founded by Alex Thomson in 1854. The town was named for General James Long, who had fought in the Mexican-American War and helped to win that war. The Thomson family left Longwood in 1865, but the name stuck and the town continued to grow. In 1903, Alexander Thomson donated a strip of land to be used as a municipally owned agricultural fairgrounds. That same year, Longwood became a consolidated city with nearby Dunnellon. In 1940, Longwood became an independent village after it failed to secure annexation from Dunnellon. It experienced rapid growth during World War II due to the production of munitions at two local plants – Phelps Dodge and ConocoPhillips – which created a large demand for goods produced in Longwood. The post-war years were difficult for Longwood, however; its economy collapsed when prices for commodities fell and jobs dried up. However, through government assistance and effort from the community’s citizens,Longwood bounced back in the late 20th century and is today one of Florida’s fastest-growing cities.
