Military deployments have a long and varied history in the United States. Maitland, Florida is home to an Army installation that has been active since World War II. The installation, Fort Meade, is one of several military installations in the area. The first military deployment of the Fort Meade installation was during World War II. The Army activated the installation on November 8, 1941 as part of preparations for war with Japan. At that time, Fort Meade was known as Camp Beaumont. The primary mission of Camp Beaumont was training soldiers for combat in Europe. In 1946, the Army converted Camp Beaumont into an infantry battalion base and renamed it Fort Meade Infantry Battalion Base (FMIB). FMIB served as an infantry battalion headquarters until 1997 when it became Headquarters and Headquarters Company 3rd Brigade Combat Team 1st Cavalry Regiment (3 Cav) under command of VII Corps Tactical Command at Redstone Arsenal Alabama. In 1957, FMIB was redesignated Headquarters and Headquarters Company 2nd Brigade Combat Team 2nd Cavalry Regiment (2 Cav) under command of IX Corps Tactical Command at Redstone Arsenal Alabama. Maitland is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,671 at the 2010 census. The name of the town originates from the Seminole word "muhtland," meaning "place where the water falls." Maitland is located in central Polk County and has a total area of 24 square miles (60 km2). The first people to inhabit what is now Maitland were Creek Indians. They hunted and gathered resources here while also trading with other tribes in Northeast Florida. When white men began to arrive in what is now Polk County, they started farming and ranching here. By 1836, there were about 50 families living in what is now Maitland. In 1841, a post office was established here and by 1865 it had become known as "Maitland". In recent years, much development has taken place in Maitland; including an increase in business activities such as retail stores, restaurants and apartments. A major reason for this growth is that the area has been designated as a conservation area by the federal government because of its many natural features which make it an attractive place to live, work or retire. In addition to its natural beauty, Maitland offers several interesting attractions which include: seven golf courses operated by Seminole Country Club; two theme parks - Splash Mountain and Disney's Hollywood Studios - both open year-round; three lakes - Lake Wales proper (northwest), Crystal River (southeast) and Southeastern Lakeshore (southwest) - all accessible on foot or boat; more than 100 shopping centers scattered throughout the community;and more than 350 acres (160 hectares) of forested land available for hiking or ski touring when conditions are right

He served two tours of duty in Iraq before being medically retired due to stress fractures he incurred while serving as an infantryman with 1st Battalion Combat Infantry Regiment (1/2 CIR), 3rd Brigade Combat Team (3/4 BCT), 2nd Infantry Division (2ID). After his release from service, Wexler returned home to Santa Clara County, California where he worked as a data entry clerk at WalMart until 2003 when he joined up with 1/2 CIR again for another deployment to Baghdad known as Operation Iraqi Freedom III (OIFIII). On July 8th 2009 Wexler was called up for active duty once again after President Obama declared war on Osama bin Laden following the September 11th terrorist attacks which had killed thousands of people throughout the world including our own soldiers. Wexler's deployment was short lived though it left himasmaed with numerous injuries both physical and emotional including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder which caused him great difficulty sleeping for months afterwards until finally going off disability four years later due to chronic painkillers prescribed byMedStar Health CareTeam Commander Major General Jim Mattis himself- "He's like Frankenstein; we put a monster back together but it doesn't work." As mentioned earlier Sergeant First Class Wexler never received any recognition from society aside from some press releases issued by his unit commanders during his Deployment although he did receive some commendations online such as thisone: "For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity while providing leadership during combat operations against enemy forces near Kandahar Airfield on October 12, 2009".

Maitland, Florida is a town in Hardee County, Florida, United States. The population was 9,890 at the 2010 census. Maitland is part of the Tallahassee–St Petersburg Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Maitland was James Burt who arrived in 1836. He named his land "Maitland" after his home in Scotland. A post office called Maitland was established in 1867, and remained in operation until 1925. Maitland became an incorporated municipality on November 3, 1912. It state of Florida granted a charter to the Citrus Experiment Station on December 5, 1912 which operated as a research station for citrus industry development throughout much of the 1920s and 1930s before it closed its doors permanently following World War II. In 1947 Pritchett Brothers Farms opened up what would become one of the largest citrus processing plants west of Tampa Bay when it bought out James Burt's share of Maitlands' initial acreage and began to grow oranges thereon. The industry declined during the years followingWorld War II but revived starting around 1980 with new technology that allowed for more consistent yields per acre than ever before while also benefiting from new market demand; this led to today's large-scale production by several companies including Pritchett Brothers Farms and Superior Oranges Incorporated (SONI). For many years now there has been little or no manufacturing within town limits other than growing produce; however some light industrial activity exists such as a few small apparel stores as well as construction materials handling company Artis Industries Corporation which built a large ammonia storage tank near Interstate 495/SR 261 interchange just outside town limits back in the late 1990s or early 2000s
Maitland, Florida was originally a small citrus plantation town located in Monroe County, Florida. The name of the town was changed to Maitland after General James Wilkinson's successful campaign against Seminole Indians in 1835. The Wilkinson family owned and operated the plantation for many years. The first settlers to Maitland were Methodists who arrived in 1836. A Lutheran congregation also established itself in Maitland in 1840. In 1851, the county seat of Monroe County was moved from Maitland to Fort Myers and the town became a part of that city. In 1892, a cotton gin and mill were built at what is now downtown Maitland and began production of cotton fabrics. This mill continues to operate today as Key Mills LLC. In 1949, an airport was added to Maitland which served as the primary transportation hub for the community until it closed its doors in 1984 following bad weather patterns that year.
