The Shooter's Gift History in Maitland, Florida began with the purchase of a shotgun on November 3rd, 1972. The shotgun was purchased by then-Mayor Don Westfall of Maitland and his wife Jean. The Mayor and Mrs. Westfall were the first people to own a rifle in the city. They bought their first rifle, a Winchester Model 1892, at an outdoor gun show that was held at a local fairgrounds. The Westfalls used their new rifles to shoot skeet and deer from their home deck. In 1974, they became involved in Pistol Pistol shooting when Mayor Westfall organized the first pistol match in Maitland history. From then on, the Westsalls continued to participate in pistol shooting matches throughout the year as well as other events such as duck hunting and fishing tournaments. Over time, they accumulated many trophies including several state championships and numerous individual national titles. In 1984, Mayor Westfall passed away suddenly after serving continuously since 1966 as mayor of Maitland. His widow Jean continued to manage the pistol shooting program until her death on December 2nd of that year. AtJeanWestfell's death, leadership of the handgun program passed from her widow to her son Don Jr., who served for six years before he also passed away suddenly on October 5th of 2003 leaving behind an unfinished pistol shooting legacy in Maitland which is currently managed by his grandson Don III

Maitland is a small town located in central Florida. The population was 1,511 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area and is home to the University of Central Florida. The town began as a farming community on the east side of Lake Maitland. In 1887, James A. Maitland donated 5 acres (2 hectares) of land to the school district, which became known as Maitland Township. The original homes in Maitland were hand-built by farmers and their families over many years. Beginning in 1907, J.A.'s son, George W., started buying land east of town for development into what would become Maitland Beach Resort and Casino. When James A.'s death in 1916 left his widow Charlotte with much of the family's fortune, she sold most of her holdings to George W., who renamed it Maitland Park and built an elaborate swimming pool on holiday weekends for vacationers from all over America and Europe. After World War II, when tourism became more popular than agriculture in central Florida, developers began purchasing tracts of land near Maitland for subdivisions or commercial usage such as shopping centers or office parks; however, few if any developments took place due to lack of money or interest from developers until after Hurricane Wilma made landfall on October 29th 1992 and destroyed much property along I-95 north of town; this included almost all development within 3 miles (5 km) radius around both towns including much that had been built since before hurricane Katrina hit August 2005/2006%. In 1999/2000 developer Bob Weisman developed a golf course called "The Lakes" off US 1 about 12 miles (19 km) northeast of downtown Jacksonville; this attracted attention because it was one mile wide by 27 feet deep overall with bunkers measuring up to 36 feet (11 m). However because there was no water available on site nor any way to power either course without trucks pulling generators every day during high season several years later developers decided not to build golf courses within city limits only creating apartments/mall complexes instead totaling 383 units housing different types businesses including restaurants etc.; this has created problems especially now that Orlando has come online offering more properties for sale so job opportunities are becoming difficult to find close enough again

Maitland, Florida is a small town located in Citrus County, Florida. The population was 2,856 at the 2000 census. It has a history dating back to 1841 when it was known as Maitland Plantation. Maitland developed slowly until the early 1900s when development increased due to its location on the shores of Lake Okeechobee and its easy access to Interstate 95. Today, Maitland remains an important center for agricultural and commercial production with a growing number of businesses and residences. Today, Maitland is home to a variety of businesses and residents who are responsible for its growth over the years. Some of these businesses include: The Gatorade Game Room which opened in 1997; In-N-Out Burger which opened in 1984; PGA Golf Course which opened in 1954; and Hooters restaurant which first opened in 1978. Residents include many farmers who produce crops such as cotton, corn, soybeans, citrus fruits, potatoes and other vegetables. Additionally, there are numerous dwellings scattered throughout the village including: two churches (Church of God in Christ and Our Lady Help Of Christians), one hospital (Florida Hospital), five schools (Boyd High School - now part of Miami Dade Community College - West Miami Elementary - North Miami Middle School - South Miami Elementary - Morse Middle School), four convenience stores/grocery stores (Giant Eagle/CVS/PepsiCo/Target) as well as several restaurants including Olive Garden Italian Grill and Red Lobster.
Maitland was founded in 1883 by John Maitland and his wife, Fannie. The town is located on the Kissimmee River, about 20 miles south of Orlando. In 1886, Maitland started a flour mill and soon became a center for cotton production. Maitland also developed an export business with shipments to Cuba and other countries. In the 1920s, Maitland was hit hard by the Great Depression and many businesses went out of business. However, John Maitlands granddaughter, Nellie, kept the town going and it continued to grow until it reached its current population of over 60K in 1970. In recent years, much development has taken place in the town including new restaurants, shopping centers and homes.
