In Miami Gardens, Florida, the United States Air Force has been providing terminal support services to military and civilian customers since 1942. The base was first established in 1941 as the Miami-Hollywood Airport. After World War II, it became the home of the First Air Defense Command (FADC) and later Tactical Air Command (TAC). In 1951, FADC was renamed Aerospace Defense Command (AFC) and in 1961 AFC moved from Hollywood to Peterson AFB adjacent to Homestead AFB. The wing operates three primary wings: The First Wing which provides aerial refueling; The Second Wing which provides security for aircraft at Peterson AFB; And The Third Wing which provides airlift services for NATO forces and other missions. Additionally, a detachment of the 9th Flying Training Squadron conducts flying training operations for fighter pilots from all branches of service. The Aeronauticalian Museum is on site where visitors can explore history associated with the Wright Brothers airplane company. This museum features artifacts such as model airplanes, tools used by airplane builders over time, photos of famous aviation personalities and more!

The land on which the present-day Air Force Base stands was donated by Captain Harry Ziegler and his family in memory of their fallen father, General James Mattis. Captain Harry Ziegler knew that if he could give something back to our military veterans and their families then he would be forever grateful. So, Captain Harry set to work donationing acres of land to the Air Force. He donated an acre for each month that he served in the military. This continues today as part of the Colonel Tom Hogan Memorial Military Park located at 14th Street and Northwest Drive in Miami Gardens. Through this park, we are honoring these United States Marines who have given so much for our country.
Miami Gardens is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 149,645 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area. The area that would become Miami Gardens was first inhabited by the Tequesta people. They were expelled from their land in 1836 and forced to move westward into what is now Collier County. In 1885, Colonel John Fenton purchased 640 acres (248 hectares) of land near present-day Miami Beach for $5 per acre ($ in 2019). He named his new settlement after Major General James Kountz's home town of "Majestic" on Long Island Sound. The founded what would become Miami Gardens after purchasing the land east of Cooper River on Biscayne Bay which had been developed as an estate by Henry Flagler and others. At first there were only fourteen homes and businesses in the development, but due to its location close to major transportation arteries such as I-95 and US 1, it soon became one of South Florida's most popular tourist destinations. Due to its popularity as a tourist destination and its easy access to good jobs in nearby Kendallville, Miamis growth continued unabated until World War II when wartime restrictions caused many businesses to close down or relocate out of state; however, during the war period there was significant growth due to military barracks being built along Biscayne Boulevard just north of downtown Miamis business district (now Miracle Mile). After the war ended operations ceased entirely between 1947 and 1951 because so much housing had been built around military facilities that it created an orange bowl shape called "the Pentagon". The few remaining businesses windows stopped being replaced with glassed-in panels until 1978 when George Widas started marketing air conditioned units called "Widas Coolers" throughout most of downtown Miamis once again becoming active mayor during this time also adding sidewalks around all three entrances into downtown making it more pedestrian friendly; prior thereto there had always been only one entrance/exit into downtown which made getting around difficult if not impossible without getting lost within some shopping districts located immediately adjacent to various high rises overlooking Downtown Miamis including Wynwood Center & Little Haiti whileAlsoduring this time several large condo developments went up next door providing easy access directly onto Biscayne Boulevard from almost any direction creating a never ending street race between these developers & residents for control over prime real estate

In 1988, it merged with Doral to become one municipality with a total population of 71,993 people. In 1993 the City of Doral merged with Miami Gardens making it one municipality with a total population of 88,711 people (the two municipalities had been separate since 1959).
