In Miami Gardens, Florida, the military has been a part of the community for more than 60 years. The city is home to one of the only air force bases in Southeast Florida and it is also home to Fort Myers Beach Army Base. The base was established in 1925 as Fort Myers Barracks and later became Fort Myers Beach Army Airfield. In 1957, the United States Congress passed a resolution designating Fort Myers Beach Army Base as an armistice zone between the United States and Fidel Castro’s Cuba. As a result, the Miami Gardens branch of the United States Armed Forces (USAF) was created on October 1, 1957. The USAF operates two wings: One at Fort Myers Beach Army Base and another located in Miami Gardens. The wing stationed in Miami Gardens is responsible for providing logistics support to all branches of service within Greater Miami-Dade County. Additionally, members of this branch provide support to both Military Police Units and Hazardous Materials Response Teams (HMRTs). The wing also provides education opportunities for local children through its K-12 program called "Trucks with Troops." Since its inception, the USAAF has had a significant impact on American society. The Miami Gardens Regiment was an infantry regiment of the United States Army during World War I. It served in France and Belgium. The regiment was mobilized at Daytona Beach, Florida on April 15, 1917 and arrived in France on July 2, 1917. The regiment fought in the Battle of Vimy Ridge and the Battle of Arras. After fighting in the Hundred Days Offensive, it returned to the United States on November 7, 1918. Inactivated at Camp Polk, Louisiana on October 16, 1919.
Miami Gardens is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 26,819 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami Beach–Biscayne Bay metropolitan area and is included in the Greater Miami area. The name "Miami Gardens" was given to the community by General James Maitland (brother of Admiral Sir Hyde Park Maitland) for his estate there. The first post office in Miami Gardens opened on July 12, 1916. The original name for the community, "Lake Worth," was changed to "Miami Gardens" after General Maitland's death in 1917. In 1949, AAF Base Plant No. 1 moved from Miramar to what is now known as Northwest Field within Northwest Test Site located on present-day Northwest Drive and NW 24th Street. This complex eventually became known as AAF Base Camp No 2 which served as Headquarters of Air Force Base Southwest Florida under Tactical Air Command/Air Mobility Command until its closure in 1992 due to budget constraints within DoD ITC/AFCWG guidelines; it also housed USAF Weapons Laboratories while they were being built at nearby Dow Chemical Company sites). In 2001, when DoD ITC/AFCWG merged with Department of Defense Joint Operations Center (DoD JOC), Headquarters and Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (HQHAPE) relocated from Miramar AFB to Jacksonville Naval Air Station(JAX NAS)--the first time an operational joint headquarters had been stationed outside of Washington DEDE since World War II ended! HQHAPE remained headquartered at JAX NAS until its closure in late 2006 due to budgetary restrictions within DoD JOC Guidelines - having served longest continuously with an operational joint headquarters location inside DOD--it also remains one of only two locations still active as part of DoD JOC today! Today's residents are well-educated professionals who continue their tradition of heavy industry along with recreational activities such as boating and swimming along with cultural events including live music amphitheaters throughout the year as well as many large festivals that bring businesses and tourists alike to this vibrant city located just minutes away from popular tourist areas like South Beach and Hollywood Hills!

Miami Gardens is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 905 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area. The city was founded in 1918 as North Miami by Polish immigrants who had come to work on the Cooperage Company's sugar plantations in South Dade Parish. This name change reflected their desire for a more civic and Republican-leaning name than "North Miami." The new city hall and other public buildings were built between 1924 and 1928; the first school opened in 1925. In 1930, North Miami became a borough, and in 1941 it became an independent City of Miami Gardens. On July 26, 1926, Mayor Henry Cisneros announced that he would accept annexation from unincorporated Broward County as part of a larger plan to create all-southwest Florida as an agricultural area with citrus production as its mainstay. The annexation vote was 3–2 with Mayor Cisneros casting the deciding vote; 71% of those voting in Broward County approved annexation without objection from North Miami residents1 At first glance this decision may have seemed like another example of political favoritism towards north county residents over south county residents but there were several factors at play including: (1) lack of developed transportation infrastructure linking north and south counties which made it difficult for people living near Fort Lauderdale Airport to get to south county; (2) high cotton prices which led landowners to see annexation as an opportunity to make money off their land thereby increasing social tensions between east and west coasts subdivision developers; (3) economic depression which caused many businesses not to open or keep employees; finally, some officials within both cities felt that annexing north would help reduce crime rates closer to Fort Lauderdale while annexing south would provide financial security for downtown areas
