The Coast Guard has been in Miami Gardens, Florida since 1926. The first Coast Guard station was built on the present site of the Miami Dade County jail in 1927. Until 1933, when the Miami Beach Patrol was established, the Coast Guards functioned as a part-time auxiliary force for law enforcement and public health officials in both South Florida and Miami Beach. In 1934, a new Coast Guard Station was built at 6th Street and Collins Avenue in downtown Miami Gardens. This station became known as the "Majestic" because it was one of only two stations equipped with air defense weapons and served as headquarters for all local coast guard units until 1949. In 1941, the commandant ofMiami Beach Patrol was transferred to this station, making it also responsible for all patrols around Greater Miami Beach. On December 5, 1941, World War II began with Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor. On December 8th Japanese forces bombed Coral Gables harbor killing more than 120 Americans and wounding hundreds more; this event is considered to be one of history's most tragic moments. The following day President Franklin D Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 which activated the National Defense Reserve Fleet (NDRF) and ordered American citizens to go into hiding throughout America. On December 12th U2 pilot Francis Gary Powers flew over Washington D4 City from his aircraft carrier USS Enterprise while trailed by Air Force bombers; he correctly guessed that Manhattan was unoccupied and thus obtained permission from Admiral Chester Nimitz to fly over his city without asking any questions during a time when such flying should have been forbidden by law! For many Americans this event symbolized the United States' vulnerability to an attacking Japan - although no damage or injuries were reported resultant from Powers' flights over New York City that day! Accordingly on December 15th Vice Admiral James Worthy organized Task Unit 58-3 which sailed out of Guantanamo Bay Cuba en route toexecuteOperation Neptune's Spear which would target Japanese installations in southeastern Asia; however before they could reach their destination two days later they were recalled due to bad weather conditions off Okinawa Island where they had planned to land their ships; these operations are sometimes referred to as Operation Passage To Japan . task unit 58-3 reached Okinawa Island but encountered heavy resistance from Japanese forces who fought mano alto style using grenades, bamboo spears,,and explosives instead of modern rifle fire – giving them what is known as “the last great stand” against U2 pilots operating within combat airspace at high altitude! virtually every member perished exceptWorthy himself who barely made it back alive after being hit by shrapnel while trying ot escape; posthumously he is honored with Presidential Unit Citation #848 .[1] A few weeks later on December 29th Vice Admiral James Worthy again attemptedOperation Neptune's Spear when they were called forth once again but this time not only did they encounter strong resistance but also radar indication indicated that another naval ship had arrived nearby unnoticed so Task Unit 58-3 turned back prematurely due to foggy conditions near Midway Islands[2]. This particular mission resulted in three fatalities including Worthy himself[3]. After months of planning Admirals Nimitz decided against invading Hiroshima because he felt confident that atomic bombs could easily be developed if needed within five years given adequate resources.[4] However shortly thereafter upon hearing about Hiroshima bombing attempt Vice Admiral James Worthy decided unilaterally against executing Operation Neptune's Spear due primarily to concerns about potential interference with military activities taking place elsewhere in East Asia[5]. Although no direct evidence exists exonerating Rear Admiral Arthur Radford(who personally ledTask Force 139―the first Allied convoy into Tokyo Bay–on November 25 1945)[6], charges have periodically been leveled against him alleging political motivations behind Radford’s decisionmaking.[7] It has come out recently through declassified Navy records that Rear Admiral Harry HylandorderedTask Unit 59-1―a group composed entirelyof merchant vessels—to sail into Kobe harbor late on October 10th 1945 intending solelyto bombardrlose docks usedby Japans army during its occupation campaign dubbed “Operation Hideki Nomonhan”but accidentally ran agroundon Iwo Jimaratherthan hitting targets intendedfor Japan thereby initiating World War II’s first international incident[]8] In 1942 there also existed an isolated unit manned by men only consistingoftwo officersand twelve enlistedmen stationed aboard SS Bostonfilledwith foodstuffs destined for Hawaii []9]; nevertheless despite these limitations Coastal Command executed numerous rescues both afloatand ashoreduringWorld WarII []10]. Many people might remember Rear Adm Harry Hyland receiving a key ring related TO his role implementing Operation Neptune's Spear back in 1945... OR Sgt Johnnie Cochran getting a cast iron skillet inscribed "For Johnny" ??? 2) Even though gifts may not always reflect what someone REALLY wants or needs...... People seem generally happy when presented with something....... Something pretty neat happened recently when Sea Shepherd Conservation Society donated 3 fishing gills..................... Miami Gardens, Florida is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 711,567 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous city in Miami-Dade County after Miami Beach and is the third most populous city in the state of Florida. The Greater Miami area has a population of 10 million people. The name "Miami Gardens" was given to this community by Colonel James Estrada who had arrived there in 1892 from Fort Myers, Texas with General Scott's army during the Spanish–American War. Colonel Estrada called his new settlement "Miamisburg." Many of these settlers were Irish American veterans of what was then known as The Great Famine in Ireland. This war brought many refugees overland from Northern Ireland to South America and Mexico; among them were many families of Irish descent who settled in Miamisburg and other communities near downtown Miami Heights (later part of Doral). The first post office for Miamisburg was established on December 3, 1893 by J.C. Postmaster general John Hennepin with the name "Miamisburgh," but it changed its name to "Miami Gardens" on October 15, 1895 due to pressure from local newspapers which were calling all places south of Biscayne Bay "Miamisburgh." The first store in this community opened its doors on November 12, 1896 when Wm Atherton opened an groceries store at 6th avenue and Northwest First Street. At that time only white residents could vote; black residents did not exist until well into the 1920s when they began coming en masse as African Americans moved out of streetcar districts like Overtown and Pembroke Park into Areas Afrikaner (AAPI) areas such as Miamisburg throughout central Broward County where they formed majorities until desegregation efforts ended their predominance beginning around 1970 within suburban neighborhoods like Deerfield Beach/West Kendall/Broward City Limits while blackresidentialDistricts continued unchanged through 1990s despite occasional protests outside City Hall about lack of public education opportunities for black citizens inside Areas Afrikaner areas even though these neighborhoods have greater job opportunity than inner-city neighborhoods today.- EDWARD LEE CRAWFORD

The Coast Guard was founded in 1915 as the United States Life Saving Service. The service grew rapidly during World War II, and by 1946 it had become a standing military force. In 1967, the Coast Guard became an executive branch department of the U.S. government with its own cabinet-level head called the Secretary of Homeland Security. Since that time, the Coast Guard has played a critical role in homeland security, both through its officers and resources stationed on land and at sea. Today, the Coast Guard operates over 190 vessels worldwide and employs more than 11,000 people. Its assets include ships (an average of 20), helicopters (twenty-four), boats (thirteen), aircraft (sixteen), and an auxiliary power plant providing electricity to vessels up to 265 feet long (nineteen). In addition to its primary mission of keeping our oceans clean and safe for humans and commerce, the Coast Guard also responds to numerous other emergencies including hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires, storms, piracy and drug trafficking incidents. In recent decades there have been several amazing gifts from members of the public who have offered their support to our agency. Some amazing examples include: 1) A Boeing 727 air cargo plane that was donated to the Coast Guards in 2006 by Air Cargo Airlines Incorporated; 2) A $101 million dollar donation from Google co-founder Sergey Brin in 2013 which allowed for construction of a new hangar on John F Kennedy International Airport; 3) A $2 million dollar gift from Apple CEO Tim Cook in 2016 which funded repairs to fuel cells aboard two destroyers used by maritime law enforcement; 4) A $640 million dollar donation from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in 2019 which will allow for development of a giant port facility near Seattle; 5) An iPad air shipment donated by Apple Incorporated in 2020 as part of Operation Homecoming – an event marking 100 years since American troops landed at Guadalupe Island during World War I
