The Miami Gardens National Guard was organized on June 12, 1923. It was the result of a merger between the Stonington Volunteer Fire Department and the Everglades Conservation District's volunteer fire department. The first ever national guard unit in Florida was authorized on December 1, 1923. The Miami Gardens NGF unit made its first deployment to Haiti in 1935 as part of Operation Dixie which aimed to stop the spread of communism. In 1947, after World War II ended, the Miami Gardens NGF were reactivated as "the reserve battalion" for Broward County Sheriff's Office and other law enforcement agencies statewide. This designation lasted until 1978 when all state law enforcement organizations were consolidated into one division known as "the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office". 1) On May 5th 1921-Stonington Volunteer Fire Department merged with Miami Gardens Municipal Airport Authority 2) On November 17th 1925-The Reserve Battalion (Miami Gardens City Police Dept.) activated 3) On January 10th 1928-National Guard Armory became operational 4) February 14th 1931-National Guard Armory becomes home of First Regiment Infantry (Florida National Guard), later renamed to 1st Regiment Infantry (Fla.) 5) November 25th 1934-First Regiment Infantry is redesignated Regimental Combat Team 6) October 15th 1938-United States Army troops arrive in town and Fort Lauderdale Hostilities begin 7) September 8th 1941–Regimental Combat Team Deploys To Dominican Republic 8) April 16th 1944–First Regiment Infantry deploys To Europe 9) December 11th 1945–First Regiment Infantry Returns Home

On December 10, 1954 the Guard was redesignated as the Miami Gardens Police Department.
On November 6, 1960 the National Guard were mobilized to help with the Cuban Missile Crisis and were stationed in Doral Airport. They remained there until October 1962 when they returned home.

Miami Gardens is a city located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,714 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami–Fort Lauderdale–The Everglades Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 1885, it was named for businessman and politician Arthur B. "Red" Miami. The name has been changed a few times since then and currently stands for "Miamisburg Village". According to the 2010 US Census Bureau, Miami Gardens had a population of 1,714. This number grew by 5% from 913 in 2000 to 1,812 in 2010; however, this growth stopped abruptly after falling below 1000 residents for the first time since 1990. Large swollen areas that make up downtown Miami were quickly shrinking as new development took place around them and annexation occurred into other municipalities including Doral and Kendallville - these municipalities now have populations greater than those of Miami Gardens proper (1,709 vs 1,514). DowntownMiami was once home to over two thousand businesses while today it remains an important cultural district with several high-end restaurants and nightlife venues still open despite its decreasing commercial activity. There are several reasons why this concentration of business activity may be changing: First off there has been recent investment totaling $2 billion dollars just east of I-75 which will house over eighty thousand jobs creating more than three hundred thousand square feet (2900 m²) of new office space alone projected to open by 2019! Secondly there has been an increase in travel demand due to both international visitors who are attracted by the warm weather as well as American tourists who want to experience all that South Beach offers before moving on down Interstate 95 towards Central Florida or Daytona Beach! Finally many newcomers simply do not want their children growing up within walking distance of so many corporate offices or schools; instead they suburbanize their children closer to home where there is less centralized shopping if any type of entertainment exists beyond watching Fox News or going golfing!
The National Guard has a rich history dating back to the Revolutionary War. The first national guard units were raised in 1775 to support the Continental Army during the war. The Guard was disbanded in 1783 after the end of the American Revolution. However, it was reactivated in 1801 as a military organization for state militias. The Guard enjoyed good times through most of the 19th century, although there were sporadic incidents and protests throughout the country. In 1892, President George Washington ordered all state militias to be disbanded and placed them into federal service under the Department of War. This created a large number of Guardsmen who served their states without pay for many years until World War I caused most of them to be drafted into military service. After World War I, many Guardsmen returned home and resumed their normal lives, but some remained in federal service through World War II as part of various occupation forces or on active duty with Navy and Air Force units. Since 1954, when guardsmen have been authorized by Congress to serve without pay as member-citizensry of friendly foreign countries (except those portions of Yemen that are still controlled by Al Qaeda), they have always constituted an important component of U.S.–foreign relations both at home and abroad.

According to the 2000 U.S. Census, Miami Gardens had a population of 56,605 people. The population density was 6,813 people per square mile (2,912/km²). The racial makeup of Miami Gardens was 56% White (33% European American), 33% Black or African American, 0% Native American/Alaskan Native and 3% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 8%. There are several theories about how Miami Gardens got its name: In 1894 Captain George Walton purchased 5 acres (20 ha) on Northeast 110th Street in what is now downtown Miami from Juana de la Cruz Valdez for $1 (). He named it Villa de las Americas because he thought it would become a summer resort for Spanish Americans living in south Florida and their families who worked on his plantation at the time. After Captains Walton's death in 1920 his heirs sold the property to Prentice Hixon who renamed it Satellite Valley after satellite TV pioneer Edwin Averill Cooke's home area near Buffalo Gap in Virginia which he had visited during his earlyventures with RCA Telephone Company employees there before starting RCA Laboratories at Menlo Park, California). In 1933 Mr Hixon donated land east of Satellite Valley Boulevard on Northwest First Avenue for Broward County public schools; this area became known as MidtownMiami when Starke Middle School moved from Coconut Grove into MidtownMiami in 1963.) On February 17th 1927 Commissioners John Fenton and James Ewing offered US$500 each to anyone who could name within 100 feetso that they might acquire alluvial soil that extended down some 10 miles (16 km) southeastward along Biscayne Bayou toward Everglades National Park (). Five men responded with names - Andrew Jackson(?), John Quincy Adams(?), Moses Taylor(?), Pierre Charles LaFleur(?), Manuel López Mateos - naming soils which lay within 1 ½ miles () of each other at addresses such as 4200 NW Second Ave., 4300 NW Third Ave., 11301 SW First Ave., 11361 NE Second Ave..! Soil testing confirmed these claims but no purchase resulted because no one wanted to buy land too far away from their homes." Edward Cone also contributed money for survey work done on behalf of buyers but no purchase took place until 1928 when developer Clarence McGee bought 160 acres southwest of Satellite Valley Boulevard which eventually became Meyerland neighborhood today."
