In 1889, the Miami Lakes Coast Guard was organized. It consisted of a captain and a small staff. The first patrol boat was donated by Mr. Edward Coyle of Miami Lakes. In 1901, the Coast Guard purchased its first warship, the SS America. The Coast Guard made an impact on the community when it began arresting smugglers and sending them to prison in 1935. One of the most significant moments in Coast Guard history occurred during World War II when Captain John Larkin led his crew of six vessels into battle against Japanese forces at Coral Gables Harbor. For their heroism, they were awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor and posthumously received a Navy Unit Commendation for Gallantry in Action (NUCAG). Since its inception as a coast guard service,ime has seen continued growth and modernization with two new ships being delivered in 1990 and 1994; both with state-of-the-art technology including fiber optics and autopilot systems. A new headquarters was constructed on Ponce de Leon Boulevard in 1995 which is now home to all U.S.-based coast guard detachments across Florida’s Atlantic Ocean coastline as well as Puerto Rico’s National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). The Miami Lakes Coast Guard detachment provides security for more than 1 million acres along Florida’s Atlantic Ocean coastline from Ponce de Leon Boulevard in downtown Miami to Cocoa Beach County Line Road near Fort Myers Beach.. It patrols waters from Key Largo to Sebastian Inlet carrying out search and rescue missions as well as law enforcement duties such as protection of marinas, maritime traffic control, navigation assistance, fisheries enforcement and public education programs

Miami Lakes is a small community located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The community was founded in 1911 and has since grown to include over 4,000 residents. Miami Lakes is known for its beautiful Lake Michigan shoreline and plenty of parks and lakeshore amenities. Residents also enjoy the shopping opportunities available throughout the nearby town of Coconut Creek. The population of Miami Lakes had stood at around 1,500 by 1910, but it rapidly grew during the 1920s as more and more people moved into the area. By 1940, Miami Lakes had reached 6,000 residents and continued to grow until the early 1970s when it peaked at 10,000 residents. Today, there are only about 2,500 residents living in Miami Lakes proper while most of the rest reside in adjacent communities such as Coconut Creek or Deerfield Beach. The history of Miami Lakes can be traced back to a group of settlers who arrived on horseback from Tennessee in 1911. These pioneers were attracted to the possibility of having a small community that would be easy to access from both east and west coasts. The first home built in Miami Lakes was named “Red Tail” after an old name for a hawk which could be seen flying over the area on Bald Eagle sightingsoccasionally occurring at that time. This initial home was quickly replaced by another home which became known as “Minty Meadows” because it looked like fresh mint snowflakes when viewed from atop Mount Dora (nowMiami-Dade College). In 1928, a group of businessmen purchased “Minty Meadows” from its original owner and began building what would become one of South Florida’s most distinctive villages – Miami Lakes. At first glance, one might think that this village consisted only of homes – just two were built initially with no accompanying businesses or infrastructure other than homes themselves! Over time however, businesses began to develop including a post office (1928), grocery store (1930), auto shop (1935), bank (1939), ice cream parlor(1945) and several residences including #2 Home which currently houses The Wellness Connection restaurant chain headquarters today (1974). As mentioned earlier, much development took place during World War II due to heavy demand for housing units within South Florida due to rationing regulations implemented by America’s war efforteely forcing many citizens into military service etc.. This led to increased demand for affordable housing within Miami Lakes so additional dwellings were constructed throughout 1945-1950 such as #6 Home which still stands today as one of downtownmiLakes landmarksCompletely renovated in 2009/2010., now known as Villa Delle Meraviglie hotel & casino It wasn't until after Roe v Wade legalized abortion that many people decided they didn't want their children living near abortion clinic's&churches; Consequently baby boomers vacatedMiamiLakes & increasingly moved towards Orlando where schools closerto city center & good public transportation
The Coast Guard Auxiliary has a rich history that goes back to 1915. The Auxiliary was formed as a result of the American Revolution and first responders to the aftermath of the war. In 1918, Massachusetts Governor John Winthrop founded the Auxiliary with the mission of providing assistance to coastal communities in need. The Auxiliary continued to grow and expand its services during World War II, becoming one of America’s leading community service organizations. During the Cold War, the Coast Guard Auxiliary played an important role in maintaining safety on our nation’s coastline. In recent years, however, Coastguard Auxiliary membership has been dwindling as more people have chosen other forms of help for their local communities. However, there is still a large population of coast guard enthusiasts throughout America who are proud to support their country’s maritime heritage by donation or volunteerism.

The population of Miami Lakes at that time was 1,813 people. In 1959, all of Miami Dade County became part of the United States government as part of the Defense Reorganization Act of 1958. As a result, Miami Lakes became one of five CDPs within Palm Beach County.
