The Miami Lakes Shooting Sports Association (MLSA) was formed in 1969. The organization is dedicated to the advancement of shooting sports in Miami Lakes, Florida. The MLSA offers a variety of activities, including rifle and handgun training, pistol and shotgun hunting, target practice, and more. In addition to these activities, the MLSA also provides opportunities for members to learn about firearms and how they can be used in Shooting sports. The first handguns ever imported into the United States were pistols by Wm Hargrave & Sons of London. These pistols were used by American Revolutionary War soldiers as field weapons. It wasn’t until 1892 when Colt began making handguns in America that Pistol Handgun became common throughout America. From this time on until World War II Glock was the most popular brand of handgun in America with over 100 million rifles sold worldwide! In 1969 the MLSA was founded as an affiliate club of the NRA/ILA. Initially it had six members but has now grown to over 350 members from all fifty states! The main reason for this growth is because there are so many people interested in firearm safety and participation within our community! There are always new shooters looking for guidance and instruction; the MLSA tries its best to provide this type of service! There have been many changesover the years with regards to firearm ownership within our community. One such change occurred when concealed carry permits became available in Miami Lakes! This allowed individuals who desired to protect themselves while out on their own without fear of getting pulled over or being ticketed! Miami Lakes, Florida is located in the Miami-Dade County area of the United States. It has a population of over 350,000 people. The city was founded in 1892 by Germans and Irishmen as "Miamiville". The name Miami Lakes comes from two other places in Florida: Michigan lakes and Imokalee Keys. The first reference to "Miamiville" was on November 15, 1892 when Wm. M. Hickey, a white settler from Michigan City, Indiana wrote an article for the Jacksonville Democrat entitled "The German Settlement in Florida - Its Progress and Prospects." In that article, Hickey mentioned that he had recently arrived in the country with his family and that he intended to locate a hotel near the German settlement at Miamiville (later renamed Miami Lakes). In 1907, Mayor Charles W. Ladd ordered annexation of part of present day Miami Gardens into the city limits due to its proximity to various businesses and factories which were then located there including Jardine & Hastings Manufacturing Company (now KFC), Sears Roebuck & Co., Beecham Rubber Company and American Telephone Company. This annexation created South Beach on what is now Flagler Drive within the boundaries of today's Miami Lakes community. On July 1st 1909, Mayor Ladd approved Amendment No 3 to charter document number 7887 which granted extraterritorial jurisdiction over all unincorporated areas east of I-95 within City Limits as well as any areas annexed into or added to the city by proclamation or ordinance prior thereto including parts of Southwest Dade County lying eastward thereof between US 41W (now Alafaya Trail) and A1A (now Northwest First Avenue). This amendment authorized annexation by referendum for all unincorporated areas east of I-95 within City Limits subject only to Stated Use Regulations established pursuant thereto including those portions annexed into or added to Miami Lakes Borough by ordinance prior thereto but not including South Beach on Flagler Drive which became an extraterritorial municipality under Amendment No 3 after annexation by Miami Lakes Borough via referendum on July 1st 1909. As part of their incorporation process as an extraterritorial municipality under Amendment No 3, South Beach petitioned for municipal liquor license extensions until 1912 inclusive; however these requests were denied because it was felt that such extensions would create another borough within City Limits without popular voteurrence nor constitutional authority theretofore granted unto any other borough therein notwithstanding Stated Use Regulations providing for same. On October 20th 1912 both chambers passed resolution amending Charter Document # 7887 approving revocation/ denial applications received from South Beach Municipal Liquor License Extension Request Committee pending before them hereinbefore filed therefore effective immediately upon passage thereof thereby rejecting extension applications received therefrom duly noticed hereby ratified this date opposite side

Miami Lakes is a small community located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The community was founded in the early 1920s by a group of settlers who were looking for a place to settle after moving from Fort Myers, Florida. The name of the community comes from Miami Creek which flows through the area. The original residents of Miami Lakes worked as farmers and fishermen. In the 1940s, when World War II began, many people started working in steel mills in nearby Fort Lauderdale. As the war ended and business picked up again, many of these workers decided to move to Miami Lakes because it had good schools and access to jobs. After the war, many more people moved into Miami Lakes because there were more job opportunities than anywhere else in town. By 1970, Miami Lakes had about 200 residents. In that year, Hurricane Donna passed through the area and caused extensive damage to homes and businesses. Many of those who live in Miami Lakes today were among the first people on hand to help rebuild what had been destroyed. Some of these early residents still live in their homes today and continue to contribute to local life.
In 1915, Miami Lakes was organized as a town in Miami County. The name is derived from the Miami River which flows through the town. In 1925, the name of the town was changed to Ft. Lauderdale after it became an independent city within Miami County. On February 14, 1960, Ft. Lauderdale became a city and on December 5th of that year also, Miami Lakes merged with neighboring towns of Lauderhill and South Bay to form what is now called "The Beach Cities".
